#1 Carolina- QB Blaine Gabbert. Horrible value, but I dont think they pull the trigger on D #2 Denver- DE Daquan Bowers. Could be Petterson here, but they need Bowers more and the value is similar. Bowers is going to be a nasty strong side DE #3 Buffalo- QB Cam Newton. Perfect marriage of player and system. On top of that the Bills need a QB AND a gate #4 Cincinatti- DT Marcel Dareus. Green and Petterson could be the picks here, but they need help up front more, particularly in the interior where Simms and Peko arent penetrators 5- Arizona- OLB Von Miller. Instant starter on the weakside in there 3-4, and will provide the pass rush they desperately need 6- Cleveland- WR AJ Green. Peterson, Fairley and Jones are possibilities here, but I think they go with Green. they just dont have a true #1 WR 7- San Fransisco- CB Patrick Petterson. Good marriage of need/value. Petterson is probably the best player in this draft 8- Tennesse- CB Prince Amukamara. Kind of a "heck, what do I do here" Fairley is in play, but I think he is redundant with what they have. Quinn, maybe, but that would be a fall back for Morgan, and this is too high for that. Jones, would be a #2 WR, and this is too high for that. Amukamara push's Verner into the important NCB role, and gives Tennesse one of the better trios in the NFL. Good thing to have in todays NFL. A trade down is very possible 9- Dallas- DT/DE(3-4) Nick Fairley. Not a pure 5 tech, but will be a stud in Dallas new system 10- Washington- WR Julio Jones. Quick name a Washington WR 11- Houston- OLB (3-4) Robert Quinn- Him or Watt depending on what Phillips does with Mario 12- Minnisotta- DT Corey Liuget. With Pat getting older, they need someone to play with Kevin Williams. 13- Detroit- DE JJ Watt. Him or Smith, I think they go with value and the ability to succeed early 14- St. Louis- DE Aldon Smith James Hall had a great season, but he is old as dirt. Smith could turn out to be the best DE in this class when all is said and done 15- Miami- HB Mark Ingram When a coach needs to win now to save his job, how do you pass on the 2011 Rookie of the Year at a position of need 16- Jacksonville, QB Jake Locker- Great value for a guy that was the preseason #1 pick. garrand gives him a year or so to develop 17- New England, OLB/DE Ryan Kerrigan. Solid fit for there type of hybrid 3-4 18- San Diego- DE Cam Jordan. Probably the best pure 5 Tech in the draft 19- New York Giants- DT Muhammad Wilkerson, . Need help inside and werent too happy with Joseph 20- Tampa Bay- CB Brandon Harris. They need CB's and they also need someone who can be a future #1 CB in the event something happens with Talib 21- Kansas City- NT Phil Taylor. 3 years from now this will be the best defensive player in the draft. With Taylor they FINALLY get there NT 22- Indianapolis- Nate Soldier They need youth on the line, and Soldier seems to be everyone's fav LT prospect. Starts a run on OT's 23- Philadelphia- Tyron Smith. best athlete of the OT's is a Mudd type and should be a quality pass protecting RT from day 1, and in 3 years will move peters to the right side. Phans will be pissed they didnt pick Carimi, but will be happy about it down the line 24- New Orleans- Adrian Clayborn. Nola needs ends badly. Particularly young ones . Clayborne is great value here, even tho he may be a tad redunant with Smith. Really isnt a weakside guy worth the pick here 25- Seattle- Gabe Carimi. Could go alot of place's with this pick, but Carimi gives them a great future OT tandem with Okung 26 Baltimore- WR Leonard Hankerson- Missed out on Bryant last year. Hankerson gives them a quality future #1 WR 27- Atlanta- DE Jabaal Sheard Atlanta could use another DE as Abraham is getting older and nothing they have is worth penciling in as a full timer. Rahim Moore is a possibility here 28- New England- OT Anthony Costanzo. Not a huge fan, but he is value here. NE needs someone they can develop as a LT 29- Chicago- OT Derrick Sherrod Whiffed on the Williams pick a few years ago while they hit big with Webb, they need another OT 30- New York- FS Rahim Moore. Safety is one of NY few positions of weakness, and I believe both Safeties are set to be FA's anyways. 31- Pittsburgh- OG Marcus Cannon Cannon IMO is the best interior OL prospect in this draft, the only one I would draft in the first. A dominate player to put next to Pouncey 32- Green Bay- DE (3-4) Allen Bailey They are losing Jenkins, and he needs to be replaced. IMO this pick is Bailey or Heward. Baby Ironhead is safer, however, Bailey has the ability to be a game changer
That would be an quality pick IMO. You are dead-on about how he'd fit best in the scheme. Verner is only getting better so he could hold it down on one side too if need be. Finnegan isn't the same player he was two years ago. I don't know if you blame that on Finnegan, Chuck Cecil or whomever but he's more into his persona as the dirtiest NFL player that it's affected his game. His biggest strength used to be how he'd throw his opponents off because he would get under their skin. Now it's like the bark is ignored. He's got to get back to basics so bringing in a young CB would give the team a good option in case Finnegan is done.
Also think about it this way. You really have three starting CB's in the NFL nowadays. Prince ultimatly, and maybe even day 1 is the #1, and moves everyone else down the line Thought good and hard about Fairley, and while he is great value there you guys seem to have a fair amount of those type, and could use more of a beefy DT
Why do u think fairly will b a stud in our d .....your not worried about him only have only one good yr
He's got bust potential, but he's tight with rat, so he'd get with the program I think he is a great fit for a hybrid type D. I think he is more a 3 tech in a 4-3 then a 5 tech, but I think we are going to be flexable with our 5 Techs. Fairley has the potential to be a key playmaker in either a 3 or 4 man front, and as far as DL, those are the types we need
fairly is a ratliff clone...same size, school, number, penetrating ability, they even look alike. cannon looks like a second rounder to me, so does sheard, and honestly rahim moore, allen bailey, and hankerson look like 3rd rounders at best. this is a mock full of reaches in the end of round one, and full of fails at the start of it
I call bullcrap........K train preception VS reality. You like those guys as 3rd, I dont think scouts are going to agree with you Connon is the best interior prospect in this draft. Whoever thinks Mike is better is drinking Markice Koolaide. Sheard is rated as an early second right now, and as a pass rusher with teams at the bottom of the first need pass rushers, its natural to expect him in the late first
like ive said before....people overrate mike for the same reason they underrate him. cause hes maurkice's brother. They are not the same player, nor do i treat them as such. i do think hes far and away the best interior line prospect among a weak center class and middle heavy guard clbutt. watch him play at guard (snapping problems obviously affected his blocking) hes a beast and does not miss assignments, plays with good leverage and is well rounded as a pass blocker and run blocker. his second level ability is where hes comparable to maurkice, and hes very good at attacking downfield yes. i wanst arguing with the pick...many say hes only a 3 tech, i disagree. I think rat would be a great 3 tech, and certainly a better 5 tech than nose (even though hes a pretty damn disruptive nose) i think putting them next to each other would be pretty badass bailey is a workout warrior, i think he plummets come draft day to at least the 3rd. Not unheard of, everson griffen just did it. i still like him alot, not sure where to put a gigantic LB who is as raw as he is but id take my chances, its not like he had zero production at the U but workout warrior is becoming the consensus i like romeus more than shear personally, both coming in at 265 i think id put sheard at LDE in a 43 rather than convert him, Romeus is the better conversion guy but still could do 43 too. But sheard looks like woodley out there sometimes. WR im not to sure where to place everyone. I like Green and Julio as top 5-10 picks still (Julio<3) but after that its a clusterheck
Hankerson and that DHB V2 who's mane escapes me seem to be talked up as #3 WR's (odd considering how stacked this class was supposed I agree with you on Baileys true value. However I think a team is going to reach on him in the late first/early second due to the hopes that he developes into a dominate DT/DE. I think he is another Watson/Campbell/Branch.......who oddly all went the the same team
i think he could be comparable to tuck in his versatility. i just think a guy like vernon gholston is gonna make teams shy away from him too early. everson griffen is my best comparison. he was late first early second and fell to the 4th. torrey smith is much better than DHB imo, i had DHB valued as a mid second round pick but smith is a much better all around football player despite friedgen always recruitnig amazing athletes and track stars to play for him. DHB was the kind of athlete that played football cause hes fast, like the tall kid in HS that played basketball cause he was tall.....smith is a better all around football player despite being a similar athlete. and i do love bailey, i had him as one of the top 5 players to the steelers in the first for a long time, i want him but not before pick 62 at this point
