In the NFL, uniforms may be colorful. But the playing surface can't be. League owners moved on Tuesday to prevent any team from changing its stadium playing surface to anything other than green without league approval. The new rule is intended to keep teams -- and their business partners -- from converting their grass or artificial surface into a giant commercial. "It's only an answer to some great advertiser who may have (proposed) changing the field color," competition committee chairman Rich McKay said. In college football, Boise State is renowned for its blue field, while Eastern Washington introduced a red field last season. Source: USAToday
Good,..... Although I don't mind Boise's 'smurf turf' tbh, but part of what makes it it good is it's uniqueness (is that actually a word?) imho.
I think it would be cool if all the fields were the colors of their teams lol. I mean a Black and Gold field, that's pretty awesome if you ask me. Guess I am new school.
Yeah it's a terrible and ridiculous idea, I'd actually like to see the NCAA do the same thing because that smurf turf is freaking hideous, annoying, and an unfair competitive advantage. The new red one is almost as bad and makes me afraid for the future.
I don't think so...a blue field would take away from the STAR and JJ wouldn't go for that... UNLESS...the whole field was a blue star and then you're talking...
I was just thinking maximizing revenue and using it as ad space sounds like Jerry Jones. I could see them making it that silver color with a blue star in the middle or something too, to maximize Cowboys advertising.
thank god ......... the colored fields are a distraction from the game ....... i want to watch football, not be blinded by some weird butt color of turf
