My Cowboys Draft Board

Willing to trade down a couple spots for

    1- Daquan Bowers

Bowers tops my list of front 7 players. Him, Miller and Quinn are the cream of the crop as far as edge rushers in this draft. Any of those three project to be Top Dog pass rushers in the NFL. Its Bowers versitile skillset that intrigues me in our defense. I see him as a powerfull LOLB in a 3-4, a five tech in certain sets, and a LDE in a 4 man line. He is invaluable to a defense that will be running multiple fronts. But the knee........

    2- Patrick Petterson

I typically wouldnt be willing to trade up for the top rated CB, but the top rated CB is never this good. Not as much to say about him as Bowers. But sometimes there isnt much needed to say. This is one of those case's

The best of the best at #9

    3-Nick Frailey

Same level prospect as Miller, but I value him more. Like Bowers, he is valuable in a multiple front scheme. I wish he a little less like Ratliff skillset wise, but I think we can work that out.

    4- Robert Quinn

Miller VS Quinn......Quinn VS Miller. Quin wins out in this one because he is much more suited to LOLB/LDE then Miller.

    5- Von Miller

I know I posted a fight club thread stating my displeasure, but thats more out of annoyance over hype. Miller will be an elctrifying ROLB in a 3-4 somewhere. Problem is we already have one, a pretty good one. Miller doesnt have the skillset right now to be a top tier LOLB. However, he offer's versitility in that he can play LB in a 4 man line, and we are short on players that can be true LB's

    5-Prince Amukamara

A solid Petterson consolation prize if we are really targeting a CB. People debate wheather he is truely "elite". However he is a fantastic pick at #9. I would say he is slightly above Haden as a prospect. Not a playmaker, similar to a Newman which would be a good fit next to Jenkins, who is a gambler

    6-Tyron Smith

Highly polaraized prospective pick. Some Cowboy fans LOATH the idea of Smith. The want Carimi instead. However, Smith still upgrades RT the minute he is drafted, and in the passing NFL, and on a passing team. Smith makes sense to me. Somewhat similar to Brown, his former teammate. Needs to develope his body, and refine his game, but he can play in the NFL right now. If Bunting is right and he can carry 320 without losing his quickness, you have an elite LT. With Carimi, your getting Jon Runyan for life. My worry about Smith playing RT as a rook is him against top end bull rushers

    Trade Down prospects

    7-Phil Taylor

Like mentioned before, I value versitilty in front 7 moving to a new scheme. If you cant do it, I dont want you. Taylor is a rare NT prospect in that he can play 2 gap, and has the quickness to play 1 gap. He also has the ability to play the 5 Tech in sets where we want Ratliff at NT, meaning your 5 Tech are pure 2 gappers. he is rated as a late first right now, going to an interesting prospect to watch. I think he makes his way into the early part of the mid first (12-15) in the coming months

    8- Brandon Harris

Harris is the last of the CB's I want us considering in the first. More of a Man CB, isnt as rounded as the top, and isnt as likely as the top 2 to be a #1 CB in the NFL. He is also a guy we seem to have some interest in

    9- JJ Watt

The first white cracker on my board. great 5 Tech prospect, but isnt versatile enough to really make a mark in this defense. A guy that might or might be sitting out when we go to a 4 man front, even tho he can play LDE in a 4-3. In the top part first round in this defense, you better be able to play in both fronts at a high level. I have interest in him, because he does offer that versitility, I just dont know if he projects to a good enough 4-3 DE, and is too tall to play inside for my liking

    8- Gabe Carimi

Instant star RT. Dont see him full time as a LT, but I think he will be able to play it on a scab level. A bit like Jeff Backus in that respect. However, as a RT is an instant impact player.

    9- Cam Jordan

    JJ Watts Soul Brotha.

Not to say they are the same player, but same deal. Great 5 Tech, but Im not sold enough on him in a 4 man line. Wouldnt hate the pick, but more a "lets see how this works"

Thats it for now. I'll update this as time pass's and players rise and fall

Also I want to point out that "best of the best at #9" doesnt mean the player would be there at 9, just my preference on who to pick there

The top two are players I would trade up for

I think their is a decent shot you'll see it.

Its gonna take a move to #6 if he falls that far.

He's supposedly the #1 player on the Cowboys board. They've shown alot of interest in him and Harris, which if history is any indication (we didnt workout Jenkins) we are almost definatly drafting Amukamara

I would love to see Jimmy Smith push Harris into the second, which could happen. I like Harris, but I dont want him to be our top pick

Alot of talk about us going front 7 at "9", and Im all about it. We need top end guys. We are going to lose guys, and really, our front 3 is little more then mediocre

It does. If it wasnt for that he is fight Bowers for the top of my board, and a guy I would trade up for. Without that and sitting out a year, he is probobly the #1 pick

Him and Bowers and definitely gambles.

However with this team, I would be willing to roll the dice. With Ware in tow, another elite pass rusher make's hard for a team to run its offense against us, and would practically kill any need to blitz

I can agree, but many dr's told him not to play, but he has the goods. I personally think Amukamara is going to you guys.

Wouldn't mind the pick one bit.

I think he is going to be the next Newman. never going to be a big playmaker, but he can play any coverage scheme at a high level and can take WR's out of games.

Jenkins is more in the Asante Samuel mold, and Amukamara would be a good compliment

Gone IMO. Too much money, unless we can cut him and bring him back cheap. However, I think once we cut him, a team will give him a nice little short term deal

Too injury prone, and doesnt really have a nose for the ball.

IMO, best to let him get out of the contract, see if he'll come back cheap, if not let him move on

No way of knowing really. He's too young to know what he is. Was 2009 a fluke, or was 2010 a bad year.

I dont trust him as a #1 CB either was
