Dan Marino Would Deal 3rd Round Pick For Bengals Carson Palmer

Hall of Fame Miami Dolphins quarterback Dan Marino believes in current Dolphins quarterback, but wouldn't be opposed to the Dolphins trading for Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Carson Palmer. "I’ve always liked Carson," Marino said according to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald. "For a third-rounder, I would do it." Miami's third-round pick is the 15th in the round, and 79th overall. The Dolphins do not have a second-round pick in this year's draft. Palmer has spent eight seasons with the Bengals, who chose him with the first overall pick of the 2003 NFL Draft. After sitting behind Jon Kitna his rookie season, Palmer emerged as a Pro Bowl quarterback in 2005, leading the league with a 67.8% completion percentage and 32 touchdowns. Palmer returned to the pro Bowl in 2006, but was intercepted 20 times in 2007 and an elbow injury limited him to 4 games in 2008.

Hopefully he's been wearing those gay shoes with the ball on them that are meant for women. He needs ShapeUps to be his fittest.

If my team needed a QB, I would, too. I still have faith he can be a stud.

i think a 3rd would be fair, considering he still may be able to play 'ok' ......... he's never going to be great but he could be trent dilferish

Palmer is better than Dilfer. Give the guy a little credit. Lol. Depending on the team, a third rounder could be fair...if a team is close to a playoff contender.

i'm surprised everyone is having problems with my palmer/dilfer comparison ........... palmer was very lucky with the amount of talent he has had around him on offense during his time in cincinnati .......... when palmer went down in 2008, fitzpatrick actually played better than palmer with the same talent around them.

palmer is currently and has been the most overrated qb in the league for a few years now. the same thing happened with delhomme. he had a couple of good years (on paper) with a lot of talent around him, and people got it in their heads that he was great. well, if you actually watched delhomme, he had a lot of issues at the position that teams were going to expose and, sure enough, they did.

i would be very, very surprised if palmer was able to make a team better, unless he was taking over for an absolutely horrible qb (arizona, miami, or carolina) .............. otherwise, he is what he is and that is only as a stop gap for a team like minnesota or oakland or tennessee.

I'm surprised you didn't mention the 49ers along with the Cards, Dolphins and Panthers.

yep, the 49ers would be in there somewhere and i suppose even the raiders and redskins but, no matter where you put him, palmer is nothing more than a stop-gap at this point (ala Dilfer) and wouldn't make most teams better.

there is still this perception among many that palmer is a top 5-type of qb that would improve most teams (as most thought of delhomme at one time) and it's just not the case. he is a lower-tier #1/upper tier #2 nfl qb, as was Dilfer at this same age.

Lol...Differ was never Tier One. High. Middle. Low. Ever...

I think a lot of people don't take into consideration the whole career of a QB, having 2 good seasons doesn't make a QB a great one, sure there are changes in olines or changes in receivers or backs but the truly great ones step up and still win regardless of the guys around them. I never thought of Dilfer as anything close to #1, upper or lower it just seemed to me that he was always good for not losing a lead but didn't seem to do much to get the lead or take the score and run with it. True I didn't follow Dilfer closely but this was my observation when I did watch him.

i think you're talking about 'tier one' qb's but what i'm talking about is a lower #1 qb in the league (meaning somewhere between the 24th and 32nd best qb in the league at a certain point in time) or an upper #2 (somewhere between the 33rd and 42nd -- in other words, a 'good' backup qb).

Okay...I'll give you 24-32. Our "Tiers" are different.

I STILL have faith! If this guy got traded to a team with a good offensive line and some decent skill position players, he'd probably be an All Pro. Dude had 4,000 yards and a 22/14 TD/INT last year with the Oakland fuggin Raiders. Raiders, I said!

Speaking of... I heard the Eagles need a QB this week! Barkley looked a little rough around the edges yesterday...
