Dallas Cowboys tight end Martellus Bennett hopes Jon Kitna gets to compete with Tony Romo for the team's starting job, Tim MacMahon of ESPN Dallas reports. "I loved playing with Kitna," Bennett said during a Tuesday appearance on ESPN 103.3's Ben & Skin Show. "Kitna is one of my favorite people to play with. Just being out there on the field with that guy just makes you play even harder. He made some things happen in limited time, so I think if he got a longer chance, he'd be able to do more. "I hope there's a chance for a quarterback competition this year. Every position, I think we need to put more competition into it." A second-round pick out of Texas A&M in 2008, Bennett has caught 68 passes for 702 yards and 4 touchdowns during his 46-game career. Bennett had a career-high 33 receptions in 2010, with 19 of his receptions coming after Romo was lost for the season to a broken collarbone. MacMahon notes that Bennett's comments echo those made by wide receiver Roy Williams after Romo was injured. While the 38-year old Kitna played well at times last season, it's highly unlikely that first-year head coach Jason Garrett will invite a quarterback controversy by opening the position up to competition.

Give Kitna a shot. He was good last year. Tony Romo's overrated, anyway.

The Cowboys keep giving him weapons. Has he gotten to any Championship games? Hell, no! He can't seem to be able to finish a season. Can't blame everything on the Coach. I give Romo maybe 3 more years in Dallas before he gets cut or shipped off.

Not that I really care, but I am in an argumentative mood...

Besides Manning, Breese or Brady, name one QB that can take a team alone that deep in the playoffs?

The Coach is gone, so that argument is out the window for whenever the season starts.. And besides Romo don't play defense..

As far as maybe 3 more years... That may or may not happen but... Romo has been a scoring machine since he got his first start. Now I am not saying Romo is top 5 or anything like that but Romo is a damn good QB..

So your basis aare championship games Sao for that matter 85% of qbs in the NFL are over rated .....that's your argument really that your whole basis no stats nothing else

  11. weapons that haven't worked out for the most part.

barely any QB's have gone to championship games.

    can't finish a season?

Since getting the starting job in '06 Romo has only missed 13 games. 10 all in one season.

Personally I love Tony Romo being the QB for the cowgirls, no matter how bright it looks for the team he's always theredimming the lights back down.

Ryan Mallett clould learn some choking lessons from romo, romo chokes in multiple high pressured situations not just end game 2 min drills.
Kyle Orton is very simular to romo in that they both put up good numbers, they are really good against below avg teams & sometimes avg teams 50/50,
but when u need them most you can bet on a "Big Mistake"

LONG LIVE TONY ROMO 4EVER & EVER!!

Actually the Houston Oilers were here before the Texans, "the luv ya blue" era was some of the greatest times Houston has ever seen.

There are cowboy fans all over Texas and America for that matter, what does that have to do w/ romo suckin in clutch situations? What ever makes u feel better I guess?

Hey guys!! I bet there are Raider fans in SF, or Buc fans in Miami, or Bengal fans in Cleveland. Whoaa!! Welcome to Earth.
