Rams Trying To Move Up To No. 9 Overall In The Draft

Discussion in 'St. Louis Rams' started by BigBlueBruiser, Apr 15, 2011.

  1. ESPN NFL Draft Insider Todd McShay said on SportsCenter Friday that he's heard rumblings around the league that the Rams are angling to trade up for the No. 9 overall pick in the draft. The point would be to move ahead of the Redskins, whom everyone seems to think will draft Alabama wide receiver Julio Jones. The Rams, of course, would love Jones to add a big-play element on offense. But the price to move from 14 to 9 would be at least a 2011 third-round pick, and St. Louis has one of the NFL's weakest rosters. That third-rounder they'd be giving up is probably a Week 1 starter.

There's potentially enough WR's that could do the job that be available in the second, whilst retaining all our picks (Which is something we desperately need).

I like Julio Jones, but not enough to lose multiple picks over.

  3. what Andy said. I can't see them giving up so much.

idk i mean you could just go ahead and try to get jon baldwin in the 2nd (he blows imo) or grab titus young, or leonard hankerson or someone more pro ready but then you basically have a 2 donnie averys and a bunch of bums on the team. julio would be a legit #1 guy for bradford (and being that bradford cant throw downfield i think he needs a YAC guy like julio)

i might be all alone apparently but i think julio is more rare of a talent than hes given credit for

or just really roll the dice and get greg little...which would be an excellent pick for them imo

Very odd this is coming out right now, so early

However this only helps us get value for the pick

I understand your point, but I believe the pick would be a crap load more valuable when spending it on a D that needs a lot of help, than wasting multiple picks on Julio, when we already have a couple of WR's that can bring stable contribution (Yes, I actually think that Clayton, Amendola and Alexander are capable enough to last an additional year with) and upgrade multiple more pressing positions.

If he falls to #14, then okay, I have no problem whatsoever in taking him, but trading away half our draft? Screw that.

    Who are the Vowboys?

And how in gods name do you think it would take that much to move up from 14 to 9. An entire draft and next years #1????
