Would You Boo Roger Goodell If You Attended NFL Draft?

Normally, it's NFL players who are subject to the whim of a crowd's emotions on Sunday afternoons, but on Thursday night, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell -- the man who led the league into its first work stoppage since 1987 -- will have the stage, literally. Goodell will step to the microphone at Radio City Music Hall to declare the NFL draft open and then he's likely to march back up to it 32 times for every pick of the first round. And how will fans regard him? It's very possible that boos will rain down on Goodell, a potential indication of public scorn he's rarely faced since becoming commissioner in 2006. Goodell appeared at an NFL-sponsored youth fitness event in New York on Wednesday as part of the league's draft week festivities, there were catcalls and heckling of the commissioner there and chants of "let them play." Several players have called out Goodell personally during the labor impasse and the commissioner told USA TODAY last week that he doesn't take the criticism from the labor process affect him personally. "I don't get myself caught up in the rhetoric, or any kind of personal comments that are made," he said. "The best thing that can be done is we get back to negotiating, and we resolve this in a fair manner."
