The National Football League filed a brief Monday with the 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in St. Louis, explaining why it deserves a permanent stay of an injunction granted to the players in Minnesota to block the lockout. In its brief, the NFL continues to argue the U.S. District Judge Susan Richard Nelson does not have the authority to intervene in a labor dispute, including issuing the injunction that briefly halted the lockout. Instead, the league argued, that authority rests with the National Labor Relations Board. The NFL also said that the league's appeal of the injunction likely could be completed during the offseason, so there is no real harm to players if the lockout isn't lifted. However, the NFL said there would be irreparable harm to the owners if the injunction was not stayed and then the 8th Circuit later overruled the District Court. Source: ESPN
That's what the NFL is doing with our tax dollars. You bastards had us chip in on a bunch of stadiums for your own profit, and now you want to stop the thing that gets us repaid? I want Obama to come out tomorrow and demand that the NFL owners keep people employed, including all the overpriced stadium vendors' staff, parking lot attendants, and scalpers.
