One of the consequences of a lost NFL season will be an increase in crime, Baltimore Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis said in a wide-raging one-on-one interview with ESPN. "Do this research if we don't have a season -- watch how much evil, which we call crime, watch how much crime picks up, if you take away our game," Lewis told ESPN's Sal Paolantonio. That's because, Lewis said, the NFL lockout affects "way more than us" -- the owners and the players. "There's too many people that live through us, people live through us," he said. "Yeah, walk in the streets, the way I walk the streets, and I'm not talking about the people you see all the time ..." When asked why he thought crime would increase if the NFL doesn't play games this year, Lewis said: "There's nothing else to do Sal ..." Source: ESPN.com
Just think about the college football players that could be waiting to be drafted...looking for that big pay day and not knowing if it's coming? Lock up your xBoxs and PS3s people!!!
I can't stand to watch Ray Lewis talk. It's not what he says, its how he says it. Everything he says has to have that dramatic tone like he's the smartest guy in the world. He has a future in soap operas after football.
he's 100% right though. i mean look at how many players have gotten into trouble already. this country is gonna fall apart all because there's no football.
The comments are silly to start with. A criminal is pretty much a criminal 365 days a year. Is the unemployment the NFL creates going to contribute to the cause? Maybe. But the general public isn't going to be affected any more than if there was football. A criminal is a criminal...lol.
It makes me so sad that billions of dollars goes to people that need to be baby sitted to keep them from going astray. Really makes you lose faith in humankind.
Sal Pal made it "clear" today that Lewis was not implying that players and team employees were the ones he was referring to. Sal said that Ray-Ray was referring to the general public, stadium employees, police. Yes...sal said police. Lol...
wow, so all this time america has been kept together not by our constitutuion, but rather by the nfl.
Of course...duh. For the longest time it was baseball and then it got passed to football. Since then all crime has evolved around what the NFL schedule consists of...
Oddly enough, Ray Ray, the exact opposite is potentially true. Freakonomics » Will the NFL Lockout Lead to Increase in Crime? According to this website, crime rates actually INCREASE on game days.
i have already increased my own personal criminal activities without OTA's, free agency, and trades ............... yesterday, i lifted a milky way from the gas station ........... right now, i'm fighting the urge to step up to a 3 musketeers GOD PLEASE GIVE US FOOTBALL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
