Scott Cousins went to college at the University of San Francisco. He lives in the Bay Area, and he had almost a dozen friends and family at AT&T Park on Wednesday night to witness the biggest moment of his professional career."I don't know if I'm going to be welcomed home as much any more," he said.Cousins scored the go-ahead run in a brutal collision with catcher Buster Posey at home in the 12th inning, injuring the Giants star as the Florida Marlins beat San Francisco 7-6.

major setback but the giants are still a good team though with that starting pitching.

Yeah but zero offense...Belt got called up though and Pandas back soonish, if they can swing a trade for a decent replacement for Posey and/or Tejada, and the pitching can keep em afloat for a bit they're still a playoff team.

No getting around how much this sucks though, in addition to his bat, Buster generally calls pretty damn good games and has good rapport and trust with the pitching staff...rumors are already circling about them calling Molina up off the couch since he already knows the staff and might be able to provide a little bat here and there once he loses 30 pounds.

yeah i have been wondering about the game calling by posey. that can be huge if the pitchers dont get on the same page.

The pitching staff likes Whiteside a lot too, he and Buster are basically on the same page as far as game calls and he has the trust of the staff when he's behind the plate, but he's a major minus at the plate...he's great as a spot starting fill-in for Buster but he's not a fulltime player IMO.
