Houston Texans defensive coordinator Wade Phillips can't wait to implement his trademark 3-4 scheme that's built on the principles of stuffing the run and sacking the quarterback, he acknowledges, though, that where the Texans need the most help is in the secondary. The Texans ranked last in turnovers created and 30th in total defense last season. As much praise as he has for defensive tackle Earl Mitchell, linebacker Brian Cushing and newly-minted outside linebacker Brian Cushing, Phillips wants to see a lot of improvement from the defensive backs. Especially cornerback Kareem Jackson, the Texans' first-round draft pick last year out of Alabama. "I think technique-wise he needs a lot of work," Phillips said. "I guess he was able to play at Alabama without a lot of technique without worrying about staying low enough or moving his feet, those kinds of things. I think that caught up with him. I think we can coach him. We'll drill him enough that we'll go over and over and over." That said, the former Dallas Cowboys head coach is encouraged overall with what he has to work with. "I just think we've got a chance to be real good here," Phillips said. "That's part of why I came here."

    cover the spread beastin'

They need a FS something awful. I was surprised they didn't go after Rahim Moore in the draft.

that would end up being moore at CB and jackson at FS imo. Jackson still may end up at FS but probably not this year

I could see Jackson being a free agent in the future too.

Glover Quinn will be the FS and should be a very good1, but taking away our best corner will require a free agent signing at CB. Personally I don't think the Texans will offer Nnamdi what he wants even though we should.
Rick Smith knows football like my daughter(6 yrs old) does, he's not going to put out any big money, he will get us a great deal on Lito Sheppard(cb) and Gerald Sensabaugh(ss).
Can u figure out where the mediocrity is coming from? Check out R Smith's transactions.
