Cowboys owner Jerry Jones offered his perspective on the Vikings need for a new stadium. "Right now, we are subsidizing this market," Jones said of NFL owners. "It's unthinkable to think that you've got the market you got here - 3.5 million people - and have teams like Kansas City and Green Bay subsidizing the market. That will stop. That's going to stop. That's on its way out." Jones was referring to revenue sharing, which may end after the current Collective Bargaining Agreement expires next year. Jones challenged leaders in Minnesota to step up and help owners Zygi and Mark Wilf get a new stadium to replace the Metrodome. "It's going to take leadership," Jones said. "It can't happen unless you've got real public leaders. They really do have to accept and recognize or educate their constituents on just how important it is to the growth of Minnesota." Taking away revenue sharing would be the single worst thing to happen to the NFL. It's the one thing that keeps the league on a level playing field.
Why should nfl owners that's care and put money into their team have to give up money that other owners refuse to Spend money on their teams sent from my HTC EVO using tapatalk

Wellington Mara will be rolling over in his grave if this happens......he started the revenue sharing concept.
So you'd rather see a few teams dominate with a lot of being destroyed by them year in year out because they cannot compete financially? You want it to become baseball? The reason why the NFL is so great because nearly every team is competitive every year, there is always balance, there is always change. The league stays exciting without sacrificing quality. Allowing the Cowboys, Redskins etc. buy championships, not only would be hollow victories, but would cripple the sport we all love.
What gives you the idea that the Cowboys (who don't spend in free agency) and the Redskins (who do spend) bought championships? I agree with Andy. It's definitely a plus to keeping the league competitive.
Read again, I said the possibility of allowing them to buy championships. That said, I'm pretty damn sure Jerry would throw dollars around at top players if it meant putting a championship team in his new stadium.
I understand. That's why I asked what gives you that idea? The Redskins have tried to buy a championship signing the the big name players and fail on a consistent basis. The Cowboys haven't spent significant money in free agency (though I think they go after Nnamdi this year) in a long time. A salary cap would still be in place with a ceiling and floor.
