GIF ESPN Keeper League

It just per standard ESPN rules, Im not going to do anything differently. 2 keepers, standard draft. You don't HAVE to keep to players if you think you could do better in the draft pool. Its that easy.

 

My only question is if someone were to keep less than two, where do the "extra" players/picks to fill their roster come in? If everyone keeps two it obviously doesn't matter, but someone with one keeper would be down a player in regard to roster size. Do they pick someone somewhere, or fill their roster with the undrafted? Sorry if I'm making this seem complicated.

 

No it's okay, Ive just had a hard time explaining it in the past. Basically the way it works is to look at the first two rounds of the draft as being "keeper" rounds. If you have 2 keepers, they count as your first two draft picks.

So. If everyone keeps two, the draft proceeds as it usually would from the available talent pool. If, say, you only choose to keep one, and everyone else keeps two, you get an ACTUAL pick in the first two rounds while everyone elses keepers count as their pick, so you get one pick ahead of the rest of the "regular" draft to fill your keeper requirements. Does that make sense?

It would probably be easier to require everyone to keep 2 and call it good, but Im not going to force someone to keep a player/players that might be inferior to the available talent just to make my life easier.

I've changed mine twice already, pretty much all of my options have at least a decent amount of risk attached to them

 

AJ, feel free to boot me if you havent already. Im going minimal this year with the teams, as I took on too may leagues last year.

 

Are we allowed to trade right now? Would it be lame/unfair/confusing if trades were allowed before setting keepers? And I have no idea if there's even an option to do it on ESPN, but are we allowed to trade draft picks? If there's not an option for it, can people "arrange" things before the draft?

I just think of these things sometimes and thought it might be good to address them before any of those kinds of situations/disputes might arise.

 

I wouldn't mind getting involved in some possible wheeling and dealing...lol.

 

You cant trade right now per the ESPN settings and I dont see any way to change that, but if you were able to work something out with someone via email/PM or whatever, I'd be more than willing to manually make the roster switch for you, Im fairly sure I can do that. Just make sure both parties confirm it to me. Thanks for bringing this up, actually, it reminded me that I needed to change the draft order to manual, the draft order will be in inverse order of the final standings, and if people want, I can definitely turn on draft pick trading. As soon as I get the final order in order I'll post it here, but you should have a fairly good idea of where your pick will be anyway.

I like my keepers.

 

I would be ok with mine too, just trying to shake things up. I think things get more fun that way and people are more likely to stay active/involved. Just my $.02

 

I agree, it's just hard right now because unless youre doing straight up trades keeper for keeper, your going to end up losing part of your trade. I have more than two solid keeper options, if I had one superduperstar and a bunch of crap Id think about trading the one guy for two solid keepers, but thats not the case so Im standing pat.

 

Okay so LitezOut backed out, we need one more player. Dragonite wanted in but I havent seen him around here much, I dont know what his deal is. We've got a week and a half or so until the draft, holler at me if you want to join.

 

Could a mod change the thread title to like "GIF ESPN Keeper League" or something? The current title is so 2009.
