Cardinals To Offer CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie "Straight Up" For Kevin Kolb?

Citing a source, Mike Jurecki of XTRA 910 in Phoenix reports that the Cardinals "are prepared" to offer cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie "straight up" for Eagles quarterback Kevin Kolb when free agency kicks off. "Patrick Peterson is a better football player than than DRC right now," added Jurecki. "He's not afraid to hit." Jurecki also confirmed that Matt Hasselbeck and Kyle Orton are on the Cardinals' "short list" if they can't acquire Kolb, but insisted that "Kolb is the guy" the team will pursue first. The Cards might plan to offer Rodgers-Cromartie straight up, but that doesn't mean the Eagles would pull the trigger. Reports all offseason have indicated that Philadelphia wants a high future draft pick as well.

I'd be more than pissed with this deal. DRC is a probowl player coming off one down year, after being widely considered to be already one of the top corners in the league and at the least a future shutdown corner. Giving him up for a ridiculously unproven QB who doesn't even fit our system is insane.

kolb might be better in a weaker division but but but but i wouldnt trade away drc when its going to cost a high draft pick to get kolby anyways

Kinda makes sense though, doesn't it? Cards just got a shiny new top flight corner, and Philly wants to address the position. The QB part is obvious.

 

absolutely idiotic....i get that kolb might be a better investment than a rookie for them RIGHT NOW, but orton would be had for much cheaper and throwing to fitz hed be fine...if hes gonna be good its gonna be right now, but cassel had a larger body of work and imo is the more impressive of the 2 and he only got a 2nd round pick. Shaub got a second round pick with the same little time to showcase his ability to potential suitors, wtf makes kolb so special?

DRC and peterson could be an insane CB duo, breaking that up would be a terrible move for kolb, and even worse since DRC is the only one that they know can play CB cause lets face the rest of their CBs suck butt and its no guarantee peterson wont have to slide back to FS

and it instantly gives the eagles a top 3 CB duo

 

I dont want them to trade Kolb at all. I want him to be the Eagles future

Seriously doubt this happens. Seems like some reporter saying "makes sense, they just drafted a high CB. News is slow, lets publish it and call it a rumor".

 

God I hope this is the truth, I really don't know how our front office could possibly think this was a good move, but I wouldn't put it past the exceedingly brilliant Rod Graves.

 

They've made this story up before. I highly doubt it's true. On paper it takes care of both teams needs but it's not a balanced deal and if the Cardinals can't see that they deserve to be hecked.

Doesn't matter how great of a CB duo they would be if u don't have a franchise QB. U still have free agency to replace him, Kolb is the best available QB by far & with his prime still in front of him.

Personally I would be asking for Pat Peterson even if I had to add a 4th rounder to go along w/ Kolb.

Eagles already said that DRC wouldn't be enough. It amazes me the audacity of this front office, but on the other hand, one never really knows what is going on.

 

Just because Kolb is "the best available" which is also arguable, doesn't make him a franchise QB...we've seen plenty of teams hang on with a good defense and crapty QB.
