Negotiations continue between the Bears and free-agent center Olin Kreutz, but the San Francisco 49ers have emerged as a serious threat to end the Pro-Bowler's 13-year run in Chicago. An NFL source said that the Niners sent Kreutz a contract proposal Wednesday night. Although the Bears and the center have talked numbers as well, the source said that Chicago's offer doesn't reflect how important he is to the team. For a squad that allowed a team-high 56 sacks, Kreutz was seen as a constant as the Bears try to rebuild the rest of the offensive line. Kreutz is expected to agree to terms on Friday with one of the teams.

So what if hes 34? Top notch centers can produce well into their 30s. Look at kevin mawae. Besides, who do you want to start udfa wheeler?

I'd starter Snyder whos been lining up there all summer or Wragge. I can see why they want Kreutz but he isn't the same player he use to be and isn't as dominate anymore.

Kreutz is way past his prime. The last few years his reputation has been a lot bigger than his actual play on the field.

Sure hes past his prime and isnt dominant but he is still a good center. Rather have him then snyder or anyone else on the team. However, honeslty I bet we could plug a couple of guys on our team in there and be ok. I personally wanna see wragge get a shot. He played well as a back up at any posistion last year and is MBUTTIVE.

As well as some start declining in their 30's as well. I'm not saying he won't do well, I would rather spend the money on someone a little younger that will give us more years.

  11. You MIGHT get 2 solid years out of him but his talent is on the decline,so it is a risk.
