Giants Rescind Permission For DE Osi Umenyiora To Seek A Trade

The window for the Giants to trade Osi Umenyiora has apparently closed. The team informed the two-time Pro Bowl defensive end today he and his agent are no longer allowed to seek a trade partner, according to someone informed of the conversation between the two camps today. The person, who requested anonymity because the talks were to remain private, said the team's reasoning was Umenyiora's agent, Tony Agnone, has been unable to find a team willing to give up a first-round pick. A report in the Baltimore Sun Tuesday said the Giants had lowered their asking price for Umenyiora, though today's decision demonstrates the team's valuation of Umenyiora on the trade market has not changed. The team's decision to take the trade off the table is a sign they're looking to nip this distraction in the bud, though it might only serve to further escalate Umenyiora's anger over his claim the Giants promised to restructure his contract.

Not as easy as it sounds.....the Giants have made it very clear they will not redo his contract. They did this to prove a point......they knew no team would give up a first-round pick.

A trade very well may happen......but it will be under Jerry Reese's terms now. Osi is adamant about his stance of a trade or getting new deal. He plans never to speak to Reese again until one or the other takes place.

Osi has yet to participate in training camp and likely will be facing conduct detrimental to the team.

 

John Carlson is out there dangling like a carrot .......

 

Yea its tough when a player isnt willing to budge. I think the giants are a better team with him even if they trade for a player like carlson. Kiwi is good but hes no Osi.

 

Agree. First sign if things going bad, he's gonna feed off it.

 

Don't forget about Jason Pierre-Paul....who lit it up towards the end of the season and finished with 5 sacks. He could be ready to start as soon as this season. Kiwi has always been solid and reliable.

And don't forget about Justin Tuck.....we'll still have at least one superstar DE. He's our best overall player on defense.

Andre Carter may be joining Big Blue as well. He'll provide solid depth and production in a 4-3 scheme.

 

Oh yea definitly not forgeting about tuck hes an animal. Him and osi together imo are probably the best duo at DE. I just think even if those players mentioned play well it doesent beat having osi and tuck.

 

By the way big blue would you be interested in making a sig bet with me for one of the giants eagles games? im trying to get a decent amount of sig bets this year already got one with a cowboys fan. Before last year i made 2 with sodev for both giants eagle games.

 

lol lets not get carried away, he was flashy sometimes (expected by most) but overall he was still pretty bad at most things because hes stil sooooo raw. imo hes got a long way to go
