Philadelphia Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie said Thursday he has "high hopes" for DeSean Jackson. But he reiterated the team's policy of not giving contract extensions to players holding out according to the Philadelphia Inquirer. "I'm not going to talk publicly about any of the dealings with him, but it's all positive, and we look forward to DeSean being here and working things out in a great way going forward," Lurie said during his annual state of the team press conference with media. When asked if it was still team policy to refuse to give extensions to players not in training camp, Lurie said: "That's been our philosophy consistently, yes." Various reports state August 9th as the date that players under contract must report to camp or lose an accrued year so that is likely the date that Jackson arrives to camp.

Signing Plax woulda been a huge freaking help in this situation. Threatens DeSean's starting spot if he wasn't in camp, and makes it seem as if he is a little more expendable this season.

As it stands, we have Mono-boy who still isn't at 100% and is probably lighter than DeSean by now and Jason Avant.

They need to figure this crap out. Quick.

Time to bring Moss out of retirement.

You lost T. O. over money.

No we didn't. We lost T.O. because he bad mouthed our 'franchise' quarterback and we had to continue to coddle him as he was in bed with Reid. Someone had to go, and it sure as hell wasn't going to be McNabb.

It wasn't all about McNabb. It was about money as well. After he played the SB on one leg, he wanted a new contract, and it didn't happen. To him, money = respect. He felt disrespected when a new deal wasn't offered. I'm not saying that's right or wrong. I'm just saying how he thinks.

Writing was on the wall the second he said he wasn't the one who got sick in the Super Bowl. They wouldn't have paid him vet minimum after that.

Is that what they told you down in TE-HAS? He left because he was a douchebag and disrespected the team. And if I remember correctly him leaving wasn't entirely his choice. I do remember the Eagles suspending HIM and kicking his butt out of town. Sure he wanted more money but what else is freaking new? He called out Andy Reid's QB after the Super Bowl and made him look like an butt. Screw Terrell Owens.

I LOVE Jeffery Lurie for this. He didn't say they won't work out a new contract which they will. He said he won't talk which him as long as he's not in camp. Granted when he shows his skinny butt up they will probably now tell him to shut the heck up and play football or pay out your contract and lose a year in the league. He'll be in the same boat next year if he doesn't show up by Tuesday. I also don't think the NFL will be in D Jax's corner with this one. He was a priority on this team's list but the D needed suring up. Granted Adrian Peterson is an idiot for his comments during the lock out he has the right attitude now. He KNOWS he's going to get paid next year and he wants a ring. I think in terms of what he means to the team Jackson is in the same boat as Peterson and needs to realize he'll get paid. he just needs to show up.

We'll truly see how big his balls are within the next four days. Let's see if he is willing to lose a year of FA eligibility over this year.
