Brian Hoyer did his best to make New England forget about Tom Brady, completing 15-of-21 passes for 171 yards and a touchdown as the New England Patriots stomped the Jacksonville Jaguars, 47-12, in the preseason opener for both teams on Thursday night at Gillette Stadium. Ryan Mallet was strong in his debut as well, completing 12-of-19 passes for 164 yards and one touchdown. Stevan Ridley scored three touchdowns - two on the ground and one in the air - and ran for 64 yards in the win. Richard Medlin rushed for two touchdowns and finished with 54 rushing yards on 14 carries. Blaine Gabbert started the game at quarterback for Jacksonville and finished with 85 passing yards on 9-of-16 completions. Source: SB Nation Boston
This team has really been tweaked to seal the deal this year. If all the new parts come together as planned, they are going to make a serious run at a Lombardii. All the weaker areas from a 14-2 team last year has been covered this year. This team is loaded.
Yea not as big a deal I think as people are thinking. It's great to see everyone perform well, especially Mallett. But it's still just a preseason game. Not like it's a Super Bowl precursor. I'll start getting really excited when they're winning games like this in the regular season.
It's hard to really read anything into the preseason. There are quite a few coaches out there that don't really care what the end result of a game is... I think we all expect the Pats to be good and the Jags to be at or near the bottom of the AFC South..
Yeah. I don't get excited about pre-season games. individual performances, maybe. But, it's mostly game-situation practices.
Anybody know who started at the safety spots for the Jags last night, i heard they were maybe gonna play Dawan Landry at FS? ewwww lol
Hell, at this point Garrard is only going to get this God-Awful team to 8 wins at most. If I'm him I demand out after this year anyway, he's good enough for a team to take him next season.
