Owner Jerry Jones Thought Nnamdi Asomugha "Was Going To Be A Cowboy"

Discussion in 'Dallas Cowboys' started by BigBlueBruiser, Aug 13, 2011.

  1. The Philadelphia Eagles emerged pretty much out of nowhere at the outset of free agency to sign cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha, the top prize on the market. The Eagles signed Asomugha for $60 million over the next five seasons but not until after Jerry Jones thought he had reeled in the All-Pro performer. “We obviously wanted (Asomugha) or we wouldn’t have been in the $10 million and up range to get him,â€￾ Jones said on the SilverStar Network, according to the Dallas Morning News. “We had known that he really wanted to be a Dallas Cowboy. And that’s a fact. There, for about an hour, I thought he was going to be a Dallas Cowboy. You do that because you can do it and should do it, and take advantage of the opportunity.â€￾ Now, Jones and the Cowboys will have to face Asomugha twice a season in the NFC East.

Oh Jerry keep dreaming... obviously he did not want to be a cowgirl that badly.

I love how we took Nnamdi off the Cowboys and how we also took Steve Smith from the G-men.

You didn't take Nnamdi from us. We never had him. And Steve Smith might not end up being anything for you. Homerism much? Just because he didn't sign with us doesn't mean he didn't want to be a Cowboy. If you're that narrow-minded, I feel sorry for you.

    Inclulbus WE ARE! .. Marshall!

It's just the hypocrites who have always said how Dallas buys their talent, yet we've not been in the Free Agent market at all hardly, and their team .. who's never had a taste at a championship, is buying every single last thing they can, to try and buy a championship. They're going to hate and be dumb about it, because that's all they know how to. I woke up that morning seeing the "Ryan family in disputes" or whatever, because Dallas had came close to signing Naamdi, But they're Eagle fans, they know all. (: :icon_cheesygrin:

Whatever helps you sleep at night buddy. From the beginning Aso was going to be an Eagle. It was reported WAY back before the season even ended. I'm sure if you dig a little bit you can find quite a few articles saying such. It was reported on ESPN, NFL Network, the bum at the train station, etc. The Eagles were ALWAYS the front runner.

And as far as "buying every single last thing they can to try and buy a championship" is one of the dumbest things I've heard. They're adding pieces. It's what teams do. And for the record Babin should've ALWAYS been an Eagle, DRC was traded for(smart business) and adding other small pieces is what they're doing. It's how the NFL works. How many stars did they "buy?" Donald Lee? Johnny Lee Higgins? Ronnie Brown? How many of them are "superstars?" I'd say MAYBE Ronnie Brown. Vince Young isn't a superstar. He's an over rated, over hyped piece of garbage. I'm sorry but I'd take Kafka everyday. The Eagles are doing what a smart team that's spent smart money over the last 5 or 6 years would do.

The bottom line is Jerry needs to let it go. He was NEVER going to be a Cowboy. You can hide behind the whole "we've won more titles than you" thing but when it comes down to it the Cowboys aren't that good of a team. Until they get a QB that isn't goobered that team is just going to keep being okay. The Eagles added the pieces they needed. If they don't win the East I'd be shocked and if they don't make it to the Super Bowl I'd honestly be surprised. But who knows. Anything can happen on Any Given Sunday.

I've been saying the same thing and the fact that Ryan is there now. That's why I thought the Cowboys would make a splash this season with Nnamdi.

The truth is Jerruh has little grip on reality and probably expected to be able to low ball Nnamdi because he is delusional enough to think wearing the star is an honor all NFL players covet rather then the badge of mediocrity it has become. Until we brilliantly raped the cards the Eagles were considered by most the front runner for nnamdi and the only reason most wrote them off after DRC came onboard is they feared to even contemplate such an awesome trio of CBs.

Yeah.. I am sure your facility is full of Super Bowl trophy's.. Oh wait.. Never mind...

Jerry may be a little full of crap and sometimes talks out of the side of his mouth, but at the end of the day it still is "America's team".

There is a key difference you SteAler fans missed. You never hear us bringing up our dusty irrelevant championships. You can't go 3 posts from them without hearing about em. Now stay on topic. This thread is about Jerruh's delusions of grandeur not about GIF's Eagles fans.

And please save the whole Championship hoopla. REAL sports fans know this is "What have you done for me lately" culture. Meaning lately the Cowgirls have ONE playoff win in 15 years whereas the Eagles have won how many playoffs games? Don't worry I'll wait. The fact of the matter is Cowgirls fans are stuck in 1995. As a player I would rather go to a team that's a perennial playoff contender then some has been rod in the mud franchise that's been overrated as hell for the past decade in a half.
