The Green Bay Packers wasted no time kicking off their Super Bowl title defense, displaying a potent offense in a 42-34 season-opening victory over the New Orleans Saints. Behind three touchdown passes from Aaron Rodgers, the Packers captured a 28-17 halftime advantage and never looked back. Rodgers finished the game with completions on 27 of 35 passes, notching 312 yards in the air in addition to those three touchdowns. New Orleans actually outgained Green Bay in the game by 78 yards but couldn't pull off a late rally for the win. New Orleans threatened to score on a final-minute drive but couldn't drive the ball in for the potential game-tying score. Source: Associated Press
Looked like it was going to be a blowout early. Brees and the Saints made it a thriller at the end though. Fantastic game and great way to start the season.
Yeah if we had him and he was able to make one stop the game could of been different. But that's no excuse though. Look what the Packers did with over 45 different starters a year ago. I just wish Gregg Williams would focus more on our teams strengths and not his blitz happy philosophy.
Hell of a game. Great way to start the season. Only the Saints scoring that last TD and going for two would've made it better.
The lack of tackling hurt us. and i don't see it getting any better with the new rules about practicing in pads. they are in position but can't get the guy down. they need to do more gang tackling.
Agreed....I think they concentrate way too much on stripping the ball. Yes it helped win us a Super Bowl, but lately it has hurt us.
they need to ensure the tackle then go for the ball. our offense really don't need the help in scoring points. back then we did. now just tackle the damn ball carrier and get off the freaking field. hate poor technique.
