Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports Falcons cornerback Dunta Robinson delivered what appeared to be a helmet-to-helmet blow to Eagles wide receiver Jeremy Maclin that drew a personal foul penalty in the Eagles' Sunday night loss to Atlanta. Robinson, if you recall, knocked out DeSean Jackson last season. He was fined for that hit, although many viewed it as a legal tackle. "He's two for two now," Maclin said. "Fortunately, it wasn't as bad as Jack's was last year. I guess we'll see what Roger Goodell has in store for him." Jackson didn't think too much of Robinson's hit on Maclin. "I guess that's what type of player he is," Jackson said. "He tries to go for the kill shot and things like that. He got a flag for it, so just glad Jeremy is OK." Robinson said that he didn't expect to get fined. "I felt that it was a legal hit even though I was penalized in that instance," Robinson said. "Again, I feel strongly that there will not be any further repercussion."

I just saw the video of the hit and I can see why Maclin would be upset. Looked like Robinson deliberately lowered his head straight to Maclin's helmet. Looked bad. Robinson needs to be fined big or even suspended.

I'm all for big hits in a game but as long as they are clean. That hit on Jeremy Maclin was not clean. Dunta Robinson mine as well write out the check for the fine right now.

The hit was almost identical to the hit on Jackson last season. With a better result...

He'll get a fine and rightfully so. Don't think they'll be able to get him on launching though. Regardless, it's a repeat. He should get the original fine of $50,000 since it's his second offense.

They might be able to get him on launching. He didn't come off of both feet but came off of 1. I was really hoping they'd pull a run to Peters side when Robinson was over there and let him flatten that piece of crap. But...they didn't.

I think they said last night that both feet have to leave the ground for it to be "launching.". Bit who knows in the NFL.

Everything is subjective to Goodell anyway.

    True.

I'm not sure he launched but he did lead in with his helmet.

I agree but I don't think the hit on desean was. Illegal either...

i dont think it was illegal either...brutally violent, yes.

this one wasnt even half as painful looking as jackson being flattened though

and maybe i am partial to destructive hits, but who cares.....its probably over 50% of the reason why i started watching football as a little kid. Actually my favorite hits are the kind that make the rest of the team and the other team come on to the field and pray....hecked up, i know...its lovely

yesterdays hit was much worse than the one on jackson. last year was a bang bang play so to speak. this play wasnt. buchannon had time and he purposely lowered his helmet.

That hit looked poor, clearly led with his helmet and definitely not a bang bang play. Those happen, it one thing leading with the shoulder and inadvertent helmet/helmet collision happens when players fly at each other. But this just looked like there was intent on Robinson's part. Lucky for Maclin he didn't make as much helmet/helmet contact as he looked like he was trying for.
