Eagles QB Michael Vick Rips Referees After Injury During Loss

Michael Vick wore a pack of ice with a bandage wrapped around it on his right hand, and as the Philadelphia Eagles' quarterback sat behind the microphone in the wake of his team's 29-16 loss to the New York Giants, he was furious."Looking at the replays, I'm on the ground every time, and I'd be lying if I said I wasn't frustrated," Vick said. "The refs have got to do their jobs. And I mentioned it to the refs in training camp when I talked to them. I'm on the ground constantly, all the time. Every time I throw the ball, I'm on the ground. And I don't know why I don't get the 15-yard flags like everybody else does." Vick's right hand -- his non-throwing hand -- is broken as a result of a hit he took in Sunday's game "I'm not blaming the officials," Vick said shortly after and before more quotes that seemed to do just that. "I'm not going to sit here and complain about the officials. I'm just going to talk about it and hope somebody takes notice."

  2. Your on the ground because your holding the ball too freaking long and your O-Line sucks.

    Quit snitching.

Vick has every right to be pissed off at the officials. I'm a Giants fan, and I'm a dog lover. I don't like Mike Vick as a person, but I love him as a player. He's the most exciting football player since Barry Sanders and if this nonsense doesn't stop he isn't going to make it through the season.

I was watching that game and it was clearly a cheap shot by Canty, not only was it a late hit but it was also a shot to the helmet...on a guy who just suffered a concussion a week prior. If that was Tom Brady there would have been a flag and a fine for that hit. Vick has done his time for the dog fighting thing, when he is throwing from the pocket he should be treated like every other quarterback, not like a freaking tackle sled. The NFL needs to do something about this, you can't just brush aside your own rules when they become inconvenient. Just because Vick is the fastest quarterback in NFL history (and a scumbag) doesn't mean that defensive ends should be able to get late shots on him, its freaking bullcrap.

Brady got hit late below the knees last week and not a flag on the play. Same exact hit that took Brady out for the season, years ago. And regardless, what's 15 yards going to do after he breaks his hand? Is that going to make his hand feel any better? The players that do the stuff that don't get a penalty thrown, gets fined 15 thousand+. This is the NFL, regardless of the rules. Last I heard football is a contact sport. Suit up, be prepared to get hit, and play football. Everyone knows Michael Vick can't last a full sixteen game season. Whoever thinks he can isn't right in the head.

That hit on Brady a few years ago was completely different, might want to watch it again. And besides the rules are different now, the NFL has said themselves that late hits on QBs (and helmet to helmet contact) isn't going to be tolerated anymore and yet, up to this point, the rule doesn't seem to apply to Mike Vick...maybe because the refs don't like him because of the dog fighting stuff, or maybe because he runs so much that the refs are allowing defenses to kick the crap out of him. Either way it doesn't matter. I KNOW that the NFL is a contact sport, I've been watching it since I was 10 years old...it used to be much more of a contact sport. The bottom line is now the NFL has RULES ABOUT HITTING QBs late. They either need to enforce the rule for everyone, equally, or get rid of it and let all QBs get the crap kicked out of them, I don't care either way.

IMO, Vick needs to stop yelling at the refs and start yelling at that swinging door the Eagles have for an OL.

Brady, Brees, Manning, Rodgers, Rivers. Those guys get the calls. Everyone else is in the same boat as Vick. He needs to stop being an immature baby and stop blaming the refs. Does he get treated different? Yeah, but what other QBs are RBs that can throw? That's how the refs tend to view Vick. Hitting the QB late happens all the time, sometimes it gets called, other times it doesn't, that's the part that's called human judgement.

Ok so not Rivers, so he is just like Vick.

No. He's accurate and white. And not as athletic. He also likes cats.

Hardy har har. My point is the same. People are so quick to say Vick is getting treated different because he is black and has the whole dog fighting incident. When in reality, unless the QB is one I stated before, everyone gets hit and knocked around and nothing is called either.

First part of that is spot on. The line has lapses every game like every o-line does, but they come across looking like dog crap because Vick gets blasted all the time because he holds on to the ball too long, scrambles out of the pocket a lot, and also runs a lot. He also refuses to be smart and not run out of bounds or slide. The o-line has no control over that crap.

Trust me, I'd rather not defend this makeshift o-line, but everyone blaming them needs to take a closer look at every play.

  19. And Vick wonders why he's not "getting the calls".........

Problem is, he makes himself look like a runner. If his butt sat in the pocket and took those hits, I guarantee he'd be getting more flags but he comes across as a ballcarrier.
