On NFL Network Monday afternoon, Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis was asked if there was any chance the Bengals would trade Carson Palmer to the Raiders. His response was the same it has been since February - Palmer has retired and the team has moved on. "I think our organization is very firm in the statement that Carson is, as everybody knows here, retired," Lewis said. "We have moved on and that's enough to be said because we don't need to make anymore headlines for any reason other than what we do on Sundays. That's the only thing that counts." Besides Palmer being traded to a team that could win the AFC West - the Raiders are one game behind San Diego - Oakland has only $6 million in salary cap room left. Palmer's prorated salary works out to $6.9 million. Another factor is that Oakland doesn't have a second-, third- or fourth-round pick next year.

I really don't see the harm in trading him. I know, if they trade him then everyone else will do the same. But at least get something for him. Have a good coach and front office and folks will want to stay.

Both sides won. I think a change in scenery will revive the Raiders.

If Palmer goes back to his former self then it will be worth it. Jason Campbell's contract is up this year and I don't think he is worth starter money. I just think the new place will rejuvenate his career.

If Carson wins them some playoff games its worth it, I just don't see that happening

why not? He doesn't have to win games for them just not lose them. Great running game and defense. I just don't see how he has declined so much in so little time. I think his heart just wasn't in it at Cincy.

Eventually he will need to win the game and I see him throwing a pick at the 50 yard line.

Ask Mr.D how many times that happened in Cincy last year.

even Brees does that. I don't follow the Bengals but it is hard to comprehend that someone can decline like that. Maybe it has been coming along for some time but if so why didn't Brown trade him earlier? If I was a GM I would get rid of non productive players if they are on the downside of their career.

Palmers decline was incited by an injury, Brown didn't trade him because he didn't know how Palmer would respond after surgery.

Also because Brown is a FREAKING STUBBORN BUTT and an idiot

then he makes for a horrible owner. making decisions purely on emotions. that makes no sense for someone to do that. I am beginning to think any success has been and will be based on luck and not because of game planning. To keep someone just to stick it to someone is as-sine.

just think our team used to be that dysfunctional. I am glad we finally got a good GM and Benson is letting him do his thing. Besides a very few exceptions owners should just sign the paychecks and stay out of the GM and coaches way.
