Browns President Mike Holmgren Won't Commit To QB Colt McCoy As Starter In 2012

Discussion in 'Cleveland Browns' started by BigBlueBruiser, Oct 20, 2011.

  1. Browns president Mike Holmgren isn't committed to Colt McCoy as the starting quarterback beyond the 2011 season. Holmgren made it clear that McCoy will remain the starter throughout the season, but said it remains to be seen if he's the future at the position. "Essentially a rookie," according to Holmgren, McCoy is averaging a shockingly low 5.5 yards per attempt to go with a 55.8 completion percentage. Arm strength questions aren't going away.

It's obvious watching the offense that many players aren't comfortable running th west coast system yet. McCoy was visibly frustrated last week when someone wasnt where they were supposed to be. By the end of the year, I bet things are running better and some of this talk gives way for a little bit of optimism. Little is starting to look good already, and the team has a bunch of nice draft picks next year.

  9. this is garbage. Mccoy is a good young QB. They need to give him time, weapons, and an improved o.line.

The dude went 40 for 61 for 350 yards not two games ago. It's not his fault he has no threats deep its clear he knows how to play the game he is probably the brightest spot on the team on offense this year.

Aside from Greg Little and Josh Cribbs the Wide's don't seem to know what they are doing and even Little struggles at times. Couple that with the OC's inability to EVER get Josh Cribbs the ball and you've got a recieving corps thats pretty inept. Give the guy some time to work with Wideouts once they learn the offense, remember Holmgren there was no Training camp this season. Nobody looks comfortable running this offense quite yet. Also Peyton has been pretty useless this year so its been ALL on Colt.

I would to flip McGee and a 5th for him and groom him behind Romo

Kids a young Bree's, nothing is going to overwhelm you physically, but he is very accurate. Look at Bree's early career

Giving up on his too soon is a mistake, but much like the Lions the Browns have been doomed finding a starting franchise QB for so long, you finally get one and they are already talking about replacing him?!?!? You guys are right, give him some weapons, some OL help and let your team get comfy with this new system.
