Some Steelers fans may wake up Monday feeling as if their team was robbed. They didn't like that Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis wasn't called for a helmet-to-helmet hit that knocked wide receiver Hines Ward out of the game early in the second quarter with concussion-like symptoms. (Look for Lewis to be fined by the NFL this week.) They didn't like that Steelers safety Ryan Clark was penalized 15 yards for hitting "defenseless" tight end Ed twinkyson late in the second quarter, a call that led to a Ravens field goal. And they really didn't like a pass interference penalty against Steelers cornerback Ike Taylor late in the third quarter that set up a Ravens touchdown. Source: Pittsburgh Post Gazette
The whole game was officiated poorly. Clark should've been penalized on a hit, how Lewis wasn't penalized on Ward is bull crap. The ruling on a few catches was questionable. The only call they got right was the Roethlisberger TD that wasnt. Like I said all around poor...
If the NFL is worried about its players getting injured, why don't TEs, WRs, and CBs wear knee pads, thigh pads, and hip pads? If I was in charge of the NFL, I'd make sure players wore a full set of pads. Just saying.
Poor officiating, they should have either decided to call it all or let them play. Seems to me like the officials just kept alternating between "This is Steelers/Ravens let them play it out" and "Call the bullcrap NFL rules" The officiating was bullcrap and possibly changed the outcome of the game.
There were tick tack calls that got called like Ike Taylor's PI or Torrey Smith's hold then a big miss like Ray's hit on Ward, then maybe Mcclain's hit on Brown, then Clark got flagged instantly for his hit. Just so very inconsistent on top of being bad.
Agree C. That's what was so frustrating. When either team was or wasn't getting called it was just insane. I think there's a good chance these teams will be meeting again.
