MIAMI -- Hanley Ramirez emerged from the back of the stage, wearing a grin and a new uniform, arms raised as he basked in the first applause for a Miami Marlin. The franchise founded in 1993 as the Florida Marlins officially changed its name Friday night in a ceremony at the team's new ballpark. The Marlins also unveiled a new logo, new uniforms and new colors -- orange, blue, black and yellow. The changes emphasize the team's move from a suburban multipurpose stadium, where attendance was poor, to a cozier ballpark near downtown where crowds of more than 30,000 are expected for every game next season. Hate that logo but it's not as bad as I thought it'd be. Anyone who comes to play for this franchise however is committing career suicide. I don't care who they sign. No one down there gives a crap about sports. It's nothing remotely close to what the Heat has and this still happened. And that's with 3 of the best players in the NBA on their roster. Well 2 of the best.
THE worst sports city in the entire country. Terrible move by those owners. Plus the logo that looks like a gay pride emblem? It's like they're trying to kill the franchise.
This douche is on a mission to kill baseball, I'm convinced. They have renamed the franchise the "Miami Marlins" in hopes of reviving the franchise and getting a fan base established in a "big city" even though that's where they were before. They wanted to make the logo resemble the "art deco" feeling of Miami and make it more modern. The fish with an M would've been just fine. Bud Selig really has NO idea how to run a league. It pisses me the heck off!
