The Cowboys blowout win over the Buffalo Bills was also puncutated by the fact that all of the other NFC East teams lost on Sunday. Three teams in the conference that entered the day with a better record than the Cowboys lost and the Bucs who were tied with the Cowboys lost. But Cowboys owner Jerry Jones isn't optimistic about the team's chances for a Wild Card spot according to David Moore of the Dallas Morning News. Asked how many wins he believes his team must have to win the division, the Cowboys owner responded: "It's very early and I wouldn't dare to venture what can happen,'' Jones said. "I will say this. We're going to need to win the division, I think, to get in the playoffs.''

eh, maybe. yes, right now, dallas would not get the wild card in 2nd place in the nfc east but i don't believe atlanta, chicago and detroit are all going to get to 11 wins. maybe 1 of them will so if dallas can get to 11 wins they could get the other wild card regardless of what the giants do.

I sort of believed it.. But I think Detroit is going to start cooling off. I think now Dallas/Giants could fight for the other two with Chicago, and Atlanta.

Detroit is definitely losing steam. Chicago seems to be getting better and better as the OLine gels. I'm thinking he's right. They probably will have to win the division. I don't see them beating out Atlanta or Chicago.

I have to agree with Jerry Jones as well and the Cowboys have a pretty good shot at winning the NFC East with them being only 1 game behind the Giants right now.

If you look at the rest of the Bears schedule, call me crazy I don't care BUT I can see them going 11-5 or 12-4 with the remaining schedule they have. Of course, thats barring any letdowns and anymore injuries.

The last few years, the Giants have gotten off to a fast start only to fade in the 2nd half of the season.

I think we can. We got 3 relatively easy games coming up. If we focus on the tasks at hand, we can win all 3 of them and be at 8 wins with four games left. Atlanta has a few tough games left themselves. Detroit's schedule gets rough. Chicago's isnt all that bad. I think they'll get one of the two spots. Plus, we don't know what injuries are going to take place from now until then... so anything can happen, East usually has two representatives, as long as Dallas can string together some consistency, theres a chance at two this season as well.

Plus Giants schedule... Packers, Saints, Jets, Eagles, Dallas x2. It's going to be a dog fight, especially this Sunday for them.

I agree with you about the Bears record. They should easily do 11-5, probably 12-4

maybe i don't have as much faith in atlanta as many of you do. to me, atlanta is not right this year. they've really only played 1 great game this year (at Detroit) and, even though their schedule is pretty easy the rest of the way so they could get to 10 wins, i think they're going to end up with 5 or 6 conference losses, which Dallas would then win the tiebreaker for a wild card.

detroit holds the head to head tiebreaker on dallas so they are more of a problem than atlanta in my mind. but if atlanta, dallas, and detroit all finished 10-6, i believe the team with the best NFC record would get the last wild card and dallas has the best nfc record right now.

my head hurts now ................. i guess we should just wait and see how it plays out

Did anyone see what Boomer Esiason of CBS said last week?

For what it's worth, he said the Cowboys will win their next 5 games, and win the NFC East. So far, they're 2 of 5.
