Is Giants Coach Tom Couglin's Job On The Line?

The outcome of the next three games could be the determining factor whether Tom Coughlin is back next year. The Giants do not want to fire Coughlin. Stability and continuity are rare in the NFL. Coughlin is in his eighth season with the Giants and only Andy Reid, Bill Belichick and Marvin Lewis have been with their teams longer. But these second-half collapses are getting a little old.

i've been torn on coughlin the last couple of seasons. dude won a super bowl but hasn't won a playoff game since that game and, in fact, if they flop in december again this season, this will make 3 years in a row of not even making the playoffs.

How much time did the SB victory buy Coughlin? 4 years with no playoff wins may be it ............... i know i don't envy the giants for needing to make this decision ................

Same question, different year.... Eventually enough will be enough though... If the Giants fail to make the playoffs, I can see Coughlin gone.

coughlin is in that same 'no man's land' as lovie smith, marvin lewis, and andy reid that we all know are 'good' coaches, but we also know at some point will need to be replaced when their message loses its' effectiveness. it's a tough decision for an organization to make because if they fire that coach, it will be hard to find someone who has a new message but is as good as the last coach.

This is why I think he will not be fired. Who else is out there?

i know cowher keeps getting mentioned for the giants because one of his main requirements is to inherit a good qb. jeff fisher also? he would love to inherit that defensive talent.

I could see Fisher.. But I would bet money it wont be Cowher. He has a gravy job that I don't think he will leave.

EDIT: Fisher would actually be a really good fit IMO.

i have the same feeling about cowher. everyone keeps bringing up his name for coaching jobs but when it comes down to crunch time, i don't know if he is real excited about it. he lost his wife and i think he feels a real responsibility to now have more time for his family. i'm not sure he feels he can do it.

as far as fisher, i think he does want another shot and i would love to see what he could do with the giants. i think he's a good coach and i would love to see what he can do with that talent after re-charging his batteries.

I think its time for a change if the Giants dont make the playoffs this year. Ive been saying for awhile now that its time for Coughlin to go.
