Where the hell did the Sportsbook go?

 

Yep, the Book is gone, so is vCash. The overall usage of it by the members as a whole didn't justify the resource drag it was. It was fun while it lasted but in the end I think it ended up becoming a burden for the bookies. Now that dedication can be refocused to making GridironFans.com an even better place for football fans to have good, thought-provoking discussions. Hopefully the members can also join in on that re-focus.

 

Major major disapointment. You could have at least got members opinions on this before ripping it out.

 

The opinion was already given by months and months of barely a handful of members using the feature. When less than 10 members are consistently using a feature, it's became time to evaluate if the work that went into it behind the scenes by the bookies was worth it, if the resources it used from the server and our database was justified. In the end the answer to both questions was no. Add to that a total lack of interest from the member base as a whole for such a long stretch.

 

wat was the point of vcash if theres nothing to buy? good ridance to vcash

 

Out of the 16 NFL games I posted a week 10-12 no one even bet on. Which I just don't understand. No one wanted to bet their fake interweb cash on games to have a little fun with the feature? WTF?

Of the four or so games left maybe 3,4, or at the most 5 ppl bet on those games. And I feel like I have to say I did everything I could think of to save it. Expanding the football events with O/U's and point spreads. Anything anyone wanted to bet on was posted. Hell I even asked the members what they wanted to bet on and how we could create more interest in the vbook.

Yep. Everyone was using "Likes" instead so we went with that. No sense in having both.

 

eh okay, I used both haha, but no big deal, sad to see sportsbook go but I never really used it anymore.

 

Being a company man I understand why it was taken away.. But personally I am really sad that it is gone.

We need ideas to make it more active.. Anyone have any ideas to make the vBook active? If enough ppl get on board SRW will bring it back. But we need good ideas. :beer:

There's nothing to use your vCash on...that would start the ball rolling...

 

I enjoyed the fun in betting on games but I did notice that it was me and I saw 2 or 3 others that placed some bets.........

 

Its true there needs to be an awards system, X amount of VCash entitles you to X prize. I stopped betting because I never got anything out of it other than spending fake money to get nothing.

 

of course you can't use your vcash but I think maybe it would've made sense to keep around the betting system for fun. as far as I know, it doesn't cost anything, other than the time of the people posting events/grading. So we could've just had it in case there were special requests for certain events, and not made anyone post all the games every week or anything.

 

I believe it was a drain on the site and server...

 

I think if vCash could be cashed in for certain site rewards that cost nothing than it would have been active and really fun. Like if a certain amt of vCash could be cashed in for a site badge, or access to certain site features you can only get with vCash like the arcade or something.

I thought the arcade was gone long ago. But using vCash to play the arcades not a bad idea.

 

at one point there was a vcash tie in, where you bought an arcade pass with vcash or paid for a tournament entry that way
