The Detroit Lion worked out former New York Jets first-round bust Vernon Gholston, according to a league source with knowledge of the situation. The former Ohio State star tried out for the Houston Texans earlier this season. Gholston didn't succeed with the Jets or during a brief stint with the Chicago Bears. He has been unproductive ever since entering the league as the sixth overall pick of the draft.

Even Gholston may look average on that DLine...lol.

Hopefully you're wrong. If he looks average (a guy who hasn't been able to stick on three rosters) then that means the rest of your players look like crap as well.

That dline is a monster. I think Ward is saying that playing on that line could make just about anyone look good.

I get it. But why not start with someone who actually has talent. I think it's funny how no one ever really gives up on first rounders. They always seem to catch on somewhere.

The thing is, it's all about potential and some coaches stroke there own ego thinking "I can be THE MAN who makes this bust into a productive player in the nfl" I think most coaches think that way, but I pray we don't sign him.

Look at Aaron Maybin, isn't he playing for the JETS?

who actually has talent? if ANYTHING gholston has loads of talent and physical ability...something about him he just hasnt been able to put it all together. i do not think its all over for him though, playing with suh and fairly and williams/kvb might be what he needs to get to that next level

That's possible k-train. But at this point in time, with the amount of money on the line, you'd think he'd have already found that motivation.

its not a motivation and laziness thing...he just wasnt nearly as pro ready as his body looked. there has to be a coach out there that can maximize his incredible physical ability

Sometimes the right change in scenery will do it too. I know for whatever reason it worked for Cedric Bensen.

Hard not to. Wasnt like he was a sure fire bust.

You look at him, and you basically had to expect what the Giants got out of JPP

Hasn't he only been playing football since his junior year in high school or something?

Semi OT: Sammie Lee Hill is a RFA this year.

I wonder if they tender him a first, what they'll let him go for?

Lions will never let him (Sammie Lee Hill) go, but we have quiet a few guys we need to re-sign thats for sure...

I can see you guys holding him this year with a 1 year tender. I dont think you guys will give him a long term deal unless Fairley is a complete bust

As a Cowboy and SLH fan, Im hoping you guys are willing to deal. Id give up a second for him. I dont think there is a better 3-4 DL (even tho he is in a 4-3, he IMO is best suited to a 3-4) in the draft
