yes and why the hell not ? giants fans did it after the eagles beat them in the playoffs a couple years a go and any time the eagles made the playoffs and the giants didnt. that's what happens in rivalries.

agreed - both teams are primmed and ready. both teams had huge emotional wins in divisional round regardless of the final score.

i want the niners win of course but as i said before it goes beyond my hate for the giants. i want to see ackers get a ring.

Everyone keeps referencing the 49ers defense as a huge advantage......they were 1 against the run and 16th against the pass, which was evident last week. Without Ahmad Bradshaw the first time they playes the Giants rushed for 92 yards. I definitely think it's the best defense in the NFL but let's not start saying this is the best defense since the 85 Bears or even the 2001 Ravens.

The other thing is this, if the Giants were going to have a letdown it would have happened against the Falcons, because the Giants were coming off two must win games. Not only that, no games the Giants have played over the last 4 weeks have even been close with the average score being 30-13.

A sloppy field isn't going to benefit either team. The 49ers are a fast defensive team with it comes to plugging gaps, pass rushing etc. A wet and muddy field slows down everything. The Giants were able to stuff Michael Turner in the first playoff game, there is no reason to assume they can't do it to Gore. Turner is the same kind of rusher that Gore is, low center of gravity, hard to bring down and catch the screens. The 49ers offensive line is just as good as the falcons oline run blocking. Let's also not forget that Smith was sacked 40+ times this year. The Giants will get pressure. The two areas of focus for the Giants on defense are Davis and Gore. The San Fran wide outs, with all due respect..average.

The Giants are most balanced team of the 4 remaining teams right now. They are red hot and are playing at level they never achieved throughout the season but they have that Pedigree, an Elite QB, an explosive offense and a healthy defense that shut down tqo prolific offenses this year, The Patriots and the Packers.

I think when it's all said and done the Giants will be going to their 2nd superbowl in 4 years.

    Giants 27
    49ers 17

  4. Sunday cannot come soon enough............I haven't been this pumped for a game in awhile. More than the Packers game.

Eighth time the Giants & 49ers have met in the playoffs, an NFL record. I'm glad this rivarly is alive and kickin' again. Should be another great one.

My wife surprised me with tickets for my birthday, so sf better heckin win cause I'm going ti be there!

That said, people forget that sf is on write the roll themselves, and I'm sick as hell of people saying hote none of their wins don't count for one reason or another. Same extent I hote the media keeps it up, it fuels these guys even more

Just went to Yahoo Weather for the forecast for Sunday. Both teams better carry their rain gear and special cleats. Looks like it's going to be raining off and on all day.:icon_frown:

yes, the giants defense is playing as well as the niners defense right now. they have been lights out in the playoffs and that's all that matters.

yeah, there has been a lot of talk about letdowns for both teams. i'm not sure teams have letdowns at this point in the playoffs. they're 1 step away from playing in the greatest single game in the world. the players and coaches are very focused on one single goal at this point.

well, you sort of contradicted yourself with this analysis. you can't knock down the niners defense on a wet field and at the same time give your d-line a great opportunity to get a lot of pressure on smith.

it looks like the field is going to be a mess. it will slow down EVERYONE on the field, including any giants pass rush AND the giants receivers (who you insinuate are much better than the niners receivers).

In addition, the niners running offense stronger than the falcons so don't assume just because you limited the falcons that you can do the same to the niners.

well, i think that there are a lot of people that agree with you. I'm hearing a lot of people predicting the giants to win it all because they seem to be playing the most complete ball at this point. i could see scenarios where any of the 4 remaining teams win it all though. they're all playing good ball.

uh the giants receiver are blatantly better that the 49ers receivers, that's not even up for debate. A wet field is actually an advantage for a passing game. Why? Receivers know their routes and where they are going to go. Defensive backs are going to be weary of over pursuing. A wet field does neutralize both defenses but loading against the run is what the Giants want, it forces Alex Smith to beat them. Great he won one game on his arm last week. let's see him do it again. The 49ers gave up 20 passing TDs this year and were 16th against the pbutt. I'm more confident on the Giants winning on Eli's arm than I would be If I were a 49ers fan and knowing Alex smith is going to have to win a game on his arm.

According to the weather people here winds on game day are expected to be 15-20mph with 30mph wind gusts so passing could be affected especially the long passes. Not to mention the kicking game and field goals...

Giants were a 9-7 team and struggled to hold the division lead after beating us the first time. I dont trust them to not completly crap the bed. Not saying they will, but I dont trust them
