The 2012 Pro Football Hall of Fame class was announced Saturday night, and it was nearly as notable for who wasn't elected than who was. DB Jack Butler, C Dermontti Dawson, DE Chris Doleman, DT Cortez Kennedy, RB Curtis Martin and T Willie Roaf were all selected for enshrinement this summer in Canton, Ohio. Among those who will have to wait at least another year are Head Coach Bill Parcells, RB Jerome Bettis, WR Cris Carter, WR Andre Reed and DE/OLB Charles Haley. Source: USA Today
More so than Haley and Carter is the Tuna. I don't know how the heck that dude isn't in there. Marv Levy is but he isn't? Uhm. What?
Is it just me or the fact that people keep saying Terrell Davis belongs in the Hof a joke. He had 4 solid years. Yes he could have been a top rb in NFL history but Bo Jackson could have been there too. Roger Craig had a greater career and I don't ever see his name mentioned in that conversation. Sorry that's my little snitch about that. Droid x. 49ers
Terrell Davis should be no where near the Hall of Fame... I think Bettis has a good shot to get in next season...
Tim Brown should be inducted before or the same year as Carter. There is going to be a log jam of WRs here pretty soon. The Bus should get in, he has waited long enough. And dammit, Ray Guy should have been inducted a long time ago!
I think with Martin in, the Bus is the next RB in line. Carter and Brown are way over due. Problem is the voters probably split votes over the two WRs...
the whole hof process is hecked up ............... it's a popularity contest just like the pro bowl .......... and it is very hard for WR's to get into the hall, which is one of the reasons carter is still not in.
I was amazed that Parcells & Haley didn't get in. Eddie D deserves his spot but he got caught with his hand in the cookie jar and the NFL treats any gambling like the plague. As for the receivers, the problem is there are so many receivers with gaudy numbers that they can't just let everyone in. I'd put in Cris Carter before Andre Reed and Tim Brown would trail them both IMO.
The fact that they limit the number of players inducted each year is just dumb. If a player deserved to be in, he shouldn't have to compete for votes for a limited number of spots each year and whether there are too many players going in at one position or on one team...it's just ridiculous.
If Haley and Parcells couldn't get in this year, they're probably not going to get in next year, either. Next year, Warren Sapp, Larry Allen, and Michael Strahan are in their first year of eligibility. You would think some of them, if not all of them, would get in.
See, receiver is one of those positions that are going to get hurt due to the blow-up of the passing game of late.
