During one of the segments in the debut of Costas Tonight on NBC Sports Network, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones chimed in on a topic that had been addressed before he took the stage. Jones, who played college football at Arkansas, said that he has had "50 concussions." He then joked that, if he hadn't suffered so many blows to the head, he would have been the President of the U.S. instead of the owner of the Cowboys. Source: Sports Illustrated
If that was the case they would have won more then 1 playoff game in post aikman, Smith, Irvin Droid x. 49ers
He is the owner/GM who's fault is it? He is a genius when it comes to certain aspects of the organization. But not the GM Droid x. 49ers
He doesnt do as bad as some thinks. Has his strengths and minus's, but alot of his strengths get negated by some big time weakness like rewarding mediocrity and being trigger shy at times (should have fired Phillips in 2008). Relys on Ciakowski in the draft, whom is the only scouting director with a board with 450 names (which is why we hit on UDFA's), but is very checkered in the early rounds
He has a good scouting department. Problem with the draft has been him. 2009 was a great example, where he reached for players to fit needs in the early rounds. Its gotten better the past two years where he has strickly followed his board and gotten guys like Lee and Murray in rounds he used to fail miserably in (2nd and 3rd)
Another thing to remember is that he really isnt as hands on as we was. He's still HMFIC, but Stephan Jones makes most of the financial decisions and Garrett has a huge say in personnel acquisitions
i understand where JJ is going with this and i think there would be a LOT of current players that would agree with JJ on this ....... most of them say that they understand the health risks (now and in the future) but just accept it as part of the deal. Unfortunately, many of them change their minds when they leave the league and can barely walk, have brain issues, and/or are in constant pain for the rest of their lives.
