Cris Carter, one-time teammate and protégé of Randy Moss when both played for the Minnesota Vikings appeared Tuesday morning on ESPN Radio's "Mike & Mike in the Morning," Carter predicted that Moss would be "in fabulous shape" after a full offseason of training and reiterated his suggestion that Moss could still run the 40-yard dash in less than 4.4 seconds according to Kevin Seifert of ESPN.com. But Carter accurately identified an important issue NFL teams will need to address before seriously considering his acquisition. "The one thing you have to address with Randy Moss is not a conditioning thing," Carter said. "It's not an age thing. It needs to be addressed. I believe it's the elephant in the room. It's that thing called quit. "And Randy, not like any other superstar I've met, he has more quit in him than any of those other players. So I need to address that. That's what [New England Patriots coach Bill] Belichick did when he brought him over from Oakland. He told him he wasn't going to have it. "But Randy, when things don't go well, like no other player I've ever been around or associated with, he has a quit mechanism in him that's huge. That needs to be addressed before he signs with any team." Moss used his new verified Twitter account to send what appeared to be a response to Carter's twitter account. Although he did not specifically reference Carter's comments, Moss tweeted: "its sad how u stroked ur own ego when u were suppose to b my mentor!then u wonder why karma bites u in the [expletive]! #goodlukwhof" Source: The Redzone
It's true. The only team that was able to manage the quit inside Randy was the Patriots and he eventually quit on them.
CC has always been disappointed in Moss though .......... even when Moss was the best receiver in the league, CC called him out for quitting on plays.
when did he not take plays off. i rather have someone giving 100 % all the time than less than that whenever he wanted.
yep, that's always been the knock on Moss, even from his rookie year he was always called out for quitting on plays and quitting on games. that's what makes his career so disappointing to most of us. he could have been the GOAT but didn't have the heart and desire to do it.
who gives a heck about this comparison. both are HOF players. one got his act together and became everything you wanted in a WR both on and off the field, the other continued being a pectulant lil' snitch throughout his career and deserves to be called out on it.
I care about the comparison, as it was a response to a statement about who you would rather have on your team. In their prime, I'd rather have Moss because even after taking a few plays off he was better than CC and near the top of every statistical category. Its worth it.
Carter played every down like the ball was coming to him just in case it did. Moss didn't. So in a big game what happens if you need a completion for a first down to continue the drive to win and it is 4th and 9. The defense has shut moss down all game. You really think he will go all out for the catch? no. he would pout and run his route at quarter speed. Chris would play that down like all other downs.
c'mon drags - it's going off subject. this isn't about moss vs carter. its about moss being a quitter on his team when the spotlight isn't on him which is why moss is now looking for work eventhough his talent hasn't dwindled all that much IMO.
The more I think about it...I wouldn't offer Moss anything. He's pretty much a dog with fleas. I'd go with one less player on a roster before signing him...lol. Not even for a team friendly/minimum deal. Not even...
can you imagine the # of records Moss would have broken if he had the competitive spirit of CC to go along with his natural abilities? he would have made jerry rice's records look like chump work.
