Eagles GM Howie Roseman told reporters yesterday that he will field trade offers for CB Asante Samuel. “We’re always open to phone calls and to seeing if something works,†Roseman said, via the Wilmington News Journal. Samuel’s name has come up in trade rumors fairly consistently since they signed Nnamdi Asomugha and got Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie in the Kevin Kolb. It’s hard to speculate at the level of interest of what the Eagles could be looking for in return for Samuel but he has managed to put together productive seasons despite the consistent trade talks. “Whenever you have a surplus at a particular position there are talks around the league, people call and your phone does ring,†Roseman said, “and that’s happened in the past couple years by our quarterback situation.†One factor that could work against a deal is that this years free agent market is pretty deep at the cornerback position so team’s will most likely be shopping for deals on quality players before they’re in the trade market for someone like Samuel.

eh, i know samuel didn't have a great season but i still think he's their best corner. asomugha really took a huge drop with the eagles and i don't think having him and DRC only would be a great move unless they have some other plan at CB.

It'd just be freaking goobered not to at least entertain offers. Nnamdi had a bad year Bc he isn't a zone db. He's a man to man guy and of course JC didn't use him right in the scheme. Id much rather keep Asantebut if we can collect some quality picks for it, so be it. Business is business.

I would move him to FS and let him play the center field zone as a ball hawk. Will the Eagles take less his value due to a bad year or will the be too stubborn.

well, sure, if someone will give a fortune of picks for a CB who now has a lot of question marks, then obviously they should trade him. My opinion was based upon his actual trade value at this point, which is probably a 3rd round pick.......... maybe a 2nd.

But, sure, if someone is willing to give you a 1st rounder for asante, take it and run ...............

I agree fair value is around a second. I'd be happy to line him up with Haden now that Brown is falling apart if they could make it happen with a third and a later/conditional pick

Pats have plenty of picks and I'd like to have him back. It's no secret that the biggest need is secondary help. 6 picks in the first 4 rounds, including 2 in each of the first 2 rounds. I would give up a 2nd rounder to get Asante back.

I don't think I'd quite go that far. He's still potentially a Pro bowl DB. I'd toss last year out the window because look at Aso. The entire DB core was average at best but I think next year will rebound. I'd take vintage Asante over DRC 8 days a week but if he's 11 Asante, meh. I think he'll rebound and have an awesome year and wouldn't be too upset if that was with us but if we can get a 2nd for him and maybe a later pick, go for it. But don't just do it because. DRC has potential but he show flashes of awfulness. It's a weird situation but as I said, business is business.
