Chargers running back Mike Tolbert will likely not be re-signed by the team, according to NBC Sports. According to sources close to the situation, the Chargers and Tolbert have not talked about a new deal nor have they shown any signs of progress. Tolbert will likely become an unrestricted free agent on March 13. San Diego will need to find another running back behind starter Ryan Matthews. Last season, Tolbert rushed for 490 yards and led the team with eight touchdowns. Along with his knack for getting into the endzone, the Chargers running back was one of the best tacklers in kick coverage in the NFL last season. Source: Sports Illustrated
whats new, they dont sign anyone anymore, charger fans, welcome back to the 80's 4-12 season..... im getting real sick of the way they treat the players and fans, FREAK all of the San Diego Front office.
well, i don't think it's that they don't care about RB's......... i think with the rule changes, if you are not a special talent, teams figure tier 2 and tier 3 guys are a dime a dozen. the rule changes have decreased the value of RB's and increased the value of QB's, TE's, and WR's. There was already a steady increase in passing the ball in this league over the past 20 years. The rule changes have increased it even more. At one point not too long ago, teams used the running game to set up the pbutt. Now, the passing game sets up the run. In those times, teams invested their money in stud running backs and good run-blocking O-linemen. Because of that, teams could win championships with sub-par QB'ing/passing games but they could NOT win with sub-par running games (i.e. Broncos, Ravens, Cowboys of the 90's). I heard on the radio last week that average yards per carry league wide has never been higher and keeps growing each year. That tells us that defenses are so focused on stopping the passing game, that the running game is loosening up for everyone and you don't need Barry Sanders to be able to pick up 4 yards a carry anymore. You can now do it with a 2nd or 3rd string talent like Mike Tolbert, Jackie Battle, or Issac Redman. You don't necessarily have to pay a guy like Chris Johnson $10 mill a year.
You put a bag of weed and a beer in the endzone and he will score every time like Johnny from the little giants.
FB I saw a writer predict we sign him and let Fiametta walk. Kinda makes since conserdeding Garrett seems to talk about a running HB and we went after McClain last year Sent by HTC Vivid using Tapatalk
