The Jets have given quarterback Mark Sanchez a three-year contract extension, officially ending their brief pursuit of Peyton Manning. GM Mike Tannenbaum said the negotiations had been ongoing for several weeks. He confirmed to team looked into Manning but said the Jets are comfortable with Sanchez as their starter. It is worth and additional $40.5 million ($13.5 per season), according to a source. Sanchez will receive $27 million guaranteed until 2013 and escalators could make the five-year contract worth up to $68.25 million.

    That's just crazy. LOL

This would have been the craziest story of the day had the Redskins not traded away their next three first round draft picks a couple hours ago.

Great move. Frees up cap space n if he works out, we have him locked up at a bargain. Jets thinking long term...not broke neck Manning. Can't wait for free agency...

This really hecked us with Alex. He's about as crapty as Sanchez and now is going to want that kind of money in addition to the 5 years he's been asking for. I hope they let him walk before they pay that kind of coin for that length of time.

You guys spent damn near a first rounder on Colin Kaepernick last year, so letting him walk has to be an option

I'm still sticking to the fact that he isn't their starter for their opening game in 2013.
