The Tennessee Titans are preparing to host free agent quarterback Peyton Manning, Michael Lombardi of the NFL Network reports. According to Lombardi, a visit could take place within the next day or two. Following his release by the Indianapolis Colts last Wednesday, Manning visited the Denver Broncos on Friday and Saturday before meeting with the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday. The Miami Dolphins, Seattle Seahawks and Kansas City Chiefs are interested in Manning, but no visits have been scheduled. On Sunday, Jim Wyatt of The Tennessean reported that Titans owner Bud Adams wanted to sign Manning. "He is the man I want. Period," Adams said. "And the people that work for me understand that. They know who I want. I want Mr. Manning with the Titans and I will be disappointed if it doesn’t happen." Source: Mac's Football Blog
this surprises me too. the titans are peyton's most hated in-division rival............. i can't imagine him playing for them unless he's really pissed at Irsay.
yes, it's a good fit and there ARE now 2 whipping posts in the AFCS to pick up 4 easy wins a year so playoffs would almost be a certainty.
I had written the Titans off as a landing spot for Peyton, but really it could be the best thing to happen; not only for the Titans but the NFL. Sunday Night Football Colts@Titans, then MNF Titanscolts for the next two years...
Titans come out of nowhere and get a visit, Chiefs can't even get a word from Manning personally. Figures.
