Peyton Manning met with Miami Dolphins coach Joe Philbin and other staff members for roughly five to six hours Monday night, according to sources. The meeting, the sources said, took place in Indianapolis, where the veteran quarterback played his previous 14 NFL seasons. One source described it as a "good meeting" that focused on many of the same football topics that the quarterback discussed with the Denver Broncos and Arizona Cardinals during the weekend. Manning on Sunday completed an exhaustive three-day road trip in which he is known to have visited with Denver and Arizona, the two teams that sources believe have emerged as the favorites for the free-agent quarterback. Despite those sources' contention about the Broncos and Cardinals as favorites, Manning has not engaged either in contract negotiations.

I think it would be good for the NFL if Manning and Brady are in the same division. 2 head to head match ups a year is better than 1 possible meeting in the playoffs, if the two divisions aren't slated to battle that year.

i wonder why peyton is now opening up these visits to more teams and extended the timeline of a decision?

did denver and arizona bomb their interviews so peyton now has to consider more teams?

I don't think anyone "bombed" any interviews. Peyton's a very cerebral guy. He's not going to interview teams knowing there are more potential suitors out there. Those teams he allegedly won't visit, I wouldn't rule them out either. If anything, when the time comes for contract talks...none of which has gone on in any of these interviews, he could at the very least start a bidding war for his services.

I think Payton just realized that he needs to keep his options open. Someone's going to give him an BUTTLOAD of money and he wants to make sure he's going to somewhere he can compete and not just get paid. While I don't generally like Payton I don't think he's going to go for a cash grab. He wants to solidify his legacy in the NFL and since his little brother has 2 rings to his 1, he can't let that stand. Like Ward said, he's super cerebral. He knows what he's doing and he wants to win. Bottom line.

Agree...he'd leave some dough on the table if it were a "better" situation IMO.

Does anyone else think it'd odd they met in Indy? I mean, the man lives in Miami. Go to the mini golf course or something. Go Karting. Whatever. He should do his own announcement special as well and just heck with Miami. "I'm taking my talents to South Beach....IN THE SUMMER MONTHS WHEN I'M NOT PLAYING FOR THE BRONCOS! BOO YA!!" *stands up crotch chop*
