Woody Johnson maintains that the Jets "passed on" Peyton Manning. Four days after the Jets signed Mark Sanchez to a three-year contract extension, owner Woody Johnson reiterated his belief in the fourth-year quarterback. Although Johnson admitted that the Jets explored the possibility of landing Manning, the organization ultimately chose to place his faith – and immediate future – in Sanchez. “Our fans expect us to look at every opportunity,†Johnson said Tuesday on Fox Business Network about exploring the possibility of signing Manning. “We looked at the body of work of Mark Sanchez and wanted to put our faith in him. We have a new offensive coordinator, Tony Sparano, who loves Mark and the team he has around him. Mark is a very confident guy, but not confident to a fault. I think he’s going to be an excellent leader. I think we’ll see a so-called growth spurt this year. I think he’ll be very good with Tony’s offense.†Source: New York Daily News
He wasn't coming to Washington (NFC East) or New York because he didn't want to be competing on or off the field with his brother.
Is that so? Mark is going to suddenly just get it and be this leader you never could get him to be for the past 3 seasons? Good luck with that...
