NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has handed down the discipline for the Saints bounty program. St. Louis Rams defensive coordinator Gregg Williams has been suspended indefinitely for his part in the program. Saints head coach Sean Payton has been suspended for one year. Saints general manager Mickey Loomis has been suspended 8 games. Saints assistant coach Joe Vitt was also suspended for six games and fined $100,000. The Saints have been fined $500,000 and lose a second round pick in 2012 and 2013.

I think the reason it's harsh it's bc they got caught nfl told them to stop and they kept going

In the NFLs defense, this has the potential to cause a ton of problems and they nipped it in the butt. Aside from gambling/cheating, if there's one thing that can damage the long-term success of the league, it's people deciding it's too dangerous.

I'm guessing Loomis will be available to work the off-season, but will have to step aside weeks 1-8.

that is where we differ in our opinions. I still think what the Pats did was worse. If Payton would have quit when he was told this wouldn't have happened.

The GM isn't suspended until the first week of season, so he has the offseason to still work on the deal.

How do you figure the spygate is worse? I'd say this is a lot worse.

Exactly Peyton should have nipped it the bud when NFL warned him

Besides the fact that what the saints did was more widespread than the taping of teams walk through, I think that cheating is worse than a defensive player doing what he is paid to do.

I'm so happy that the Saints are getting exactly what they deserve.
