Len Pasquarelli of Yahoo Sports reports that the Carolina Panthers are "definitely willing" to listen to trade offers for running back Jonathan Stewart this offseason. After signing Mike Tolbert, the Panthers quickly put out word that Stewart wasn't on the trade block, perhaps for fear of losing leverage. Per Pasquarelli, however, the Steelers could be a "sleeper" to make a run at Stewart, and "everyone" has made the Broncos the favorite to acquire the versatile, 25-year-old back. Pasquarelli does concede "there hasn't been anything serious yet."

Wouldn't mind having him for a later round pick...

    I'm sure you wouldn't......

We'd be stupid to let him go for anything less than a 3rd or 4th rounder. We DID draft him in the 1st round, and he HAS been a good RB.

I say they just shouldn't trade, unless it advances them, in the 1st round, this year. We could use a Quinton Coples or a Justin Blackmon

i agree starkiller ................. deangelo seems to get a lot of the publicity in that backfield but i think stewart is just as good. he's still young and doesn't have a ton of tread on the tires. Like you say, someone may give a mid-rounder if they just really need a legit starter.

"Used" running backs aren't worth that in this days NFL...IMO.

A third was my initial thought. You're getting a real talented back who has never really taken the beating of a starter, they'd be foolish for taking less. The better move would really be to try to get someone to take on DeAngelo's contract and pair Stewart with Tolbert, but I'd be surprised.

i agree that the overall value of rb's in this league are plummeting but the carolina rb's aren't 'used' like the pittsurgh rb's or rb's on other teams.

stewart barely has 800 touches in this league ............ compare that to other 25 year old rb's in this league ...........

    marshawn lynch almost 1300 touches

ray rice has over 1200 touches

mendenhall is only 24 yrs old and has almost 900 touches

I'd give up a 3rd for Stewart, I think he will thrive in a starting role.

With all that in mind Marshawn Lynch was also a former 1st rounder that was traded from the Bills to the Seahawks for a 4th round so i estimate that's about the value they will get

He's also always dinged up, despite never being a full time starter and having low carries. I'd definitely be taking that into consideration.

He's only missed 2 games in his career.

The steelers and the lions would be the only teams that i can see giving up a 4th for him but at the same time they can always try to use the draft to fill that need although I'm not sure how deep this draft is when it comes to RB

That doesn't mean hes not dinged up a lot. Ive seen him on limited duty and the injury report enough that its something I'd take into consideration if I was intending to give him an expanded role on my team, that's all I'm saying.

Players in this league are always dinged up and on injury reports, the concern comes from missing games and he hasn't missed many.

yep, that's probably a good comparison.

Honestly I had it in my head that he had missed or been limited for a lot more time than he actually has for some reason. Not sure why, but yeah, you can pretty much disregard anything Ive said in this thread.

I'd love Stewart in SF,getting back on topic. I don't think Gore has a whole lot left period, and certainly can't handle a full season as more or less the exclusive back again. He wore down a TON this year, outside of a really outstanding 5 game stretch mid-season he was pretty average for the most part and very quick to tire. Stewart would fit well spelling Gore as they have a very similar style, which = minimal gameplan adjustment, and Hunter would provide a nice complimentary scat slasher role. I'm expecting a RB to come in at some time, whether it be Stewart or through the draft or both. When he was drafted I had high hopes that Boobie Dixon would be the guy by now but that doesnt look like its ever gonna happen. Screwer wont quit dancing behind the line.
