Sometime in the past year, the Philadelphia Eagles offered running back LeSean McCoy a contract that would have paid him just $6 million per season, the Philadelphia Daily News reported Saturday. That would be a comparatively low-paying contract for a running back who finished the 2011 season with 1,309 rushing yards and 17 touchdowns. Arian Foster, who ran for 1,224 yards and 10 touchdowns in 2012, recently signed a five-year, $43.5 million deal to stay with the Texans (at an average of $8.7 million per year) and the franchise-tag value for running backs this season is around $7.7 million. A source told the newspaper that one of the reasons McCoy fired agent Drew Rosenhaus last year was because Rosenhaus attempted to convince McCoy to take the Eagles' relatively low offer. McCoy has since re-hired Rosenhaus.

Oh man. A mere 6 million. SO low. I don't know how these guys make a living with ONLY 6 million plus incentives most likely. It shocks me that Rosencock tried to get him to accept it. He'd try to get my dead grandmother 47 million over 4 years to play running back for the Virginia Destroyers.

It is a low offer. He deserves more.

True. But either way. I hate ALL athletes. I should make 6 million dollars around the time I turn 65 or so if I stay in my job right now. Oh yeah. And I work everyday, many weeks the full 7 days.

With all the crap they went through with DeSean Jackson, you'd think the Eagles would quit the low ball tactics, but clearly not...

Read the first line. Until this season ended I didn't see Shady as an elite RB in the NFL. Good, yes. Elite, no. After this season he's definitely worth MUCH MORE than 6 million but last season I'd of said that 6 sounded about right. The Eagles aren't a team that generally overspends on players so if last off season they said 6 mil, i'd of said sure.

yep, he was smart not to sign it if it was before last season. his value is very high right now but, the cap for RB's right now is about $8 mill a year so he's really not going to get a lot more.

McCoy fired Rosenhaus at the beginning of October. Which means they offered him $6 mil a year before his breakout season this year.

And why would they 'quit the lowball tactics' with a player who still had two years on his rookie contract?
