Top Cornerback Prospect Morris Claiborne Scores A 4 On Wonderlic Test

i'm not saying it will knock him out of the top 10. i'm saying this 'should' indicate to us that we either have an intelligence problem or an attitude problem with this kid and, regardless of which one it is, it could affect how successful he is in the nfl.

 

I don't agree. Rod Woodson has admitted in the past to not taking that test seriously and he turned out fine.

Let's be honest here...we're not even sure that the score was actually a 4. That's what was leaked by some butthole who shouldn't be opening his mouth...

 

yes, that's a valid point. there have been guys that turn in bad scores that have succeeded and, conversely, there have been guys turn in high scores that have failed in the nfl.

however, in general, guys that turn in low scores seem to fail on or off the field on a more regular basis.

and, as far as the score actually being a 4, claiborne didn't deny it. the only response i've heard from him is 'i will still be a top 10 pick' ..... which in itself, sounds like a response that a guy with a score of 4 would give .....

 

If an agent doesn't think a player will perform well on the test, he should advise him not to take it.

 

yes, guys skip physical activities all the time if they're afraid it will hurt their draft status. it should be no different with this test.

that's why i compared it to a guy 'walking' the 40-yard dash and turning in a time of 30 seconds.............

what would be the perception from teams if a player actually did that?

they would think either he was going to turn in a bad time anyway, so he didn't even try or he didn't want to put in the effort of running, which indicates an attitude problem. the perception would be either the guy is really slow or has a bad attitude ....... either one is not good obviously, but what other perception is the team supposed to get from that situation?

 

so when this kid still gets picked in the top ten and gets top ten money this will all mean what exactly ?

btw - ryan leaf scored a 27.

 

after a few years, if he ends up not living up to the hype on the field and/or gets into craploads of trouble off the field, we can point to this as a possible red flag that should have been taken more seriously?

are these seriously the type of questions on the test?

if they are and each correct question is worth 1 point, then i will just go ahead and say that anyone who gets single digits did not attend a single college class and may not have attended very many high school classes.

If the wonderlic is literally 36 questions like this, i would venture to say my 6th grade twins would each get 20's, my 10th grade son would get a 30, and my 12th grade daughter would get a near perfect score.

 

fwiw - each postion has a different score expectation - qb is 21 - mcnabb scored a 16. again i point out leaf's 27.

point being i dont know how much these guys worry about this test. i mean 1/2 these guys barely go to clbutt.

This mumbo jumbo is just another waste of time while trying to find players who will do whatever they're told, play thru injuries to maximize the player value, all for the cheapest cost.

This kid is gonna be paid for a kid's game, not for next shuttle mission...

Excuse me if this has already been mentioned, but Roger Goodell sent a memo Wednesday warning all 32 NFL teams that there would be "significant discipline" if any one was caught leaking confidential information to the public. This came down after the story broke about Claiborne's Wonderlic test score.

The item about Goodell that I mentioned was on Page 2c of today's Dallas Morning News.

Nate Davis was borderline goobered and had diagnosed a learning disability I believe, he was never going to amount to anything in the NFL. Heck, he didn't even amount to anything in the Arena Football League having just got cut by the Kansas City Command :icon_confused:.
