he is. chronic knee pain. he's bone to bone right now. the thinking is that utley himself kept the severity of this from the team or at the least was in denial. either way this hecks the phillies.
I just don't understand on what planet they'd assume Utley was going to be playing the entire season. Do they not recall last season? Did they think he was magically healed?
I don't quite get it myself. The infield is in shambles right now and you know J. Roll will injure a hammy or some bullcrap injury...
well amaro said point blank yesterday that he hecked this up. good of him to take the hit but this is another blunder of his - much like allowing lee to leave the 1st time - that may cost this team.
1-0 win !!!!! 8 two hit shutout innings for halladay - 3 hits for ruiz - 1,2,3 9th for papelbon. and YES, you absol-freaking-lutely pitch paps there.
Agreed. For the $ he's making, I want paps in every game where there's a save opp. Not thrilled w/Pence's performance yesterday but it's only the 1st game.
there was debate tht you dont tell halladay to sit the 9th in a close game. sorry but the team isnt called the halladays and you just gave this guy $12plus mil a year to close for your team. thanks roy but take a seat.
well another ugly series in pissburgh. heard the phils have only won two series out there in the last 12yrs. thinking some of this flip with worely and hamels is contract driven long with giving the fans for opening day the obvious better option. just wondering, when is the herndon experiment going to end ?
well, the 4 payroll monsters of mlb (boston, nyy, philly, and laa) all lost their opening series so philly isn't alone .......... what are the odds? .......... i think philly and laa will be fine ............ boston and ny, for all the money they spend, seem to have trouble with pitching.
yeah that is the one thing that keeps me from panicing. the starting pitching is there. plus there's 159 games to go. the line-up is lacking no matter how you look at it but what can you expect when your #3 & #4 guys are out of the line-up.
Like you said, they have problems for some reason winning in Pittsburgh. Phillies are 14-24 at PNC since it opened in 2001 — lowest winning %tage in any NL park. 2-12 in the series in Pittsburgh. No series win since 2008. I'm not worried in the least bit...at the moment.
