Amobi Okoye's stint with the Bears lasted just one season. Okoye on Saturday night agreed to a one-year, $2 million contract with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, a league source confirmed. The 10th overall pick in 2007 of the Houston Texans, Okoye started one of 16 games for the Bears last season and posted four sacks. The Bears wanted to re-sign him, but at a steep discount, given their investment at the position already. Last year, the Bears moved up in the second round to select Stephen Paea. um, i was thinking the same thing. he wasn't a starter but he played a lot of snaps as a rotational guy and a veteran rotational d-lineman that takes a lot of snaps should cost a couple of million ................. maybe the bears have not changed their ways if they're letting a guy walk over a few bucks.
As long as the Bears have atleast one person with the last name McCaskey, they'll always be a cheap butt organization. Losing Amobi won't make or break the Bears but I thought he had a decent year last year.
He's only 24 years old, and 4 sacks for a rotational DT is nothing to sneeze at. Ratliff didnt even have that last year and he was a "Pro Bowler"
