Kent Somers of Arizona Republic reports that it took Cardinals QB Kevin Kolb “nearly 7 weeks to recover†from a concussion that he suffered after being kneed in the head. Kolb was interviewed about his concussion problems by the media after OTA’s Monday and he said that “To be honest with you, when I first went home it was still pretty severe,†Kolb said following Monday’s OTA’s. “It kind of worried me because I figured once I got away from the game it would clear up pretty fast. But it didn’t.†While he was with the Eagles, Kolb suffered a concussion that actually paved the way for Michael Vick to take over as the teams’ starting quarterback. This is a very serious concern for not only the Cardinals, but Kolb’s future health as well. There’s no question that 2012 is shaping up to be a make-or-break year for Kolb as the Cardinals could end up releasing him following the season.

As a Cards fan I wonder if the excuse would be used by Kolb or Whiz & Co. There is no doubt that the improved performance of the Card while Skelton was taking the snaps had more than the fans wondering about Kolb's abilities. Yes, it was a shortened training camp/preseason last year and a new system for Kolb, but many questions were raised about basic skills (quick reads of the defense, getting rid of the ball to avoid sacks, refusal to leave the pocket). So now with this 'revelation' that the concussion had lingering effects, the stage is set for Kolb's first big hit and performance afterwards. If Kolb starts, which he undoubtedly will, and his performance the same as last year, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if Kolb is benched 'out of concern' by Whiz. If there was ever a player that was on the hot seat and under the scope, it's Kolb.

I'm so tired of this bullcrap.

Don't want to risk the chance of getting a concussion? Don't play ANY sport EVER!!!!

NFL needs to include a waiver in everyone's contract.

Saw on Mike & Mike this morning there's people on the list who've never played a down in an NFL game, but were "injured" during practice. Some NFL expert said for the rules to become even more bullcrap to protect itself. No. 1 on the table being eliminate kick-offs. Could you freaking imagine that?

yep, i'm sure the league is looking at that already and, unfortunately, it's probably necessary.

yep, it's just a money grab. that's obvious. hell, as soon as Jim McMahon joined in on it, I was done with the whole thing. I remember watching him in the 80's saying on t.v. that he knew he was getting concussed on a regular basis but he just wanted to be a warrior for his teammates and keep playing through it.

they're all full of crap and have just spent all their money so they want more money.

Thing about Kolb is he is a product of the current NFL. Have one good year, or in his case a few good games, and you will cash in on the big bucks.

    The Rob Johnson Rule.

One 300+ Yard Game and the Bills are paying him mad cash!!

Love listening to call-in sports talk radio, especially when the vast majority of people are saying something I agree with. The overwhelming consensus down here is give Kolb back to Philly and Philly keeps the 2nd round pick and give DRC back. Kolb isn't worth the dollars and DRC fits in the Cards' defensive scheme better than he does in Philly's.

    That would be hilarious...

This was one trade where both teams lost.

I agree, but the Cards claim biggest loser. Picking at #13 and then at #87 in the draft plus overpaying a very average QB. That 2nd round pick could be a real win for Philly.

they have to do something about overpaying for one good season. It can cripple a team for years.
