Jets QB Tim Tebow Only NFL Player On "Time" 100 Most Influential People List

When you think of the list of the most 100 influential people in the world, your mind probably automatically goes to figures like Barack Obama, Warren Buffett and Mitt Romney, Benjamin Netanyahu and Secretary of State Hilary Clinton. And of course Tim Tebow. CBSSports.com reports that Tim Tebow is the only NFL player to make Time magazine's list of the world's 100 most influential people. He is also undoubtedly the first backup quarterback IN HISTORY to make this list. It makes you suspect Tebow has greater things waiting for him in the future than to carry Mark Sanchez's clipboard.

well, he certainly influenced many in Colorado. There are a lot of fans there that absolutely love the guy. he could probably run for governor tomorrow and win.

 

He's an amazing person.

 

I'm with you on this. I admire Tim for what he stands for, but I am tired of all the story's and media hype.

 

Then you won't be watching the Tim Tebow Special on NFL Network tonight?!?

 

Screw no. I'm a big fan obviously, but this media hype is only going to get worse as the season approaches.

thats just stupid Never understood whats so shocking about him hes a just above average nba player that just happens to be asian the fact that everyone was so freaking amazed by it was a bit racist.

 

well, certainly anytime someone of a unique color/race/creed thrives in a particular sport that typically doesn't see that color/race/creed, there is extra attention paid to that player, and that in itself is a bit racist. But it's not the type of racism that is meant to demean one person or another.

It's more of, "huh, i've never seen that .......... that's unusual"

the first black players in the NHL got a ton of extra attention.

The first Japanese players in MLB got a ton of extra attention.

and the same thing happens when players are of an unusual 'size' for their sport.

spud webb always got extra attention because he was so short.

randy johnson always got extra attention because he was so tall.

people are just attracted to unusual, unique people and situations and sometimes their heritage plays a part in that. that doesn't mean that people are being racist in the way we normally define racism though.
