Lucky for Robert Griffin III, the ridiculous character concerns only popped up a week before the draft, instead of, as was the case with Cam Newton, during the entire pre-draft process. But they're here now, as an unnamed scout was quoted as saying that Griffin has a "selfish streak" and "doesn't treat anybody good" according to a report from the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel's Bob McGinn. "As much as is written about [Griffin's] athleticism, his athleticism under duress in the pocket isn't even close to Cam Newton's," one of several scouts told McGinn. "This guy, the only way he gets big plays with his feet is if he's got a wide-open field and the sea opens for him. He's got a little bit of a selfish streak, too. Everybody was laying on Cam, but for some reason this guy has become gloves off. He doesn't treat anybody good." Source: CBS Sports
Would never guess this from everything I've seen. Seems like a real upstanding polite guy. Maybe this scout just pissed him off and now he's trying to heck with him.
This should have been apparent to anyone paying attention for some time now. It hasnt been glaringly obvious in his interviews but was still clearly there between the lines.
Oh and the reason everyone was "laying on Cam" and more or less giving RGIII a pass was the whole pay for play controversy. Cam had a shady family, a checkered background, was no Rhodes Scholar and came across as a smug smirky entitled douche. RGIII, all you ever hear about him is his solid family background, how well he carries himself, and his academic acheivements. That goes a long way to people giving you a pass on being an egotistical butthole, especially if youre not of the Caucasian Persuasion.
Think this guy has some baggage that hasn't risen its ugly head yet. Hopefully I'm wrong but have a feeling this guys going to be a bad pick for Shanny.
Its not for any love of the skins thats for sure. Just tired of seeing guys come in to the league and letting their heads get to big for their necks to support.
Cant speak for anyone else but Id much rather there be a high level of talent distibuted leaguewide, especially among my rivals. Its much more satisfying to watch your team battle hard every game, win or lose, against quality opponents than crapstomp the heck out of a JV squad a handful of times a year. The more good players in the league the better. The talent pool is already spread too thin ImO.
cam was a pr**k, everything he does just seems fake. it cracks me up that he says and does all the right things because he just looks like such a douche lol. i would imagine RG3 is upset hes not gonna be the first pick. 4.4, bigger arm than luck, more stats than luck, 6-2 223 is great size for a player of his type, hes a smart guy, and a heisman winner over luck. Luck is clearly the better pro prospect, but i think RG3 has a valid argument and should be upset about losing out to luck, its a competitive world
