It has been anticipated that players will be disciplined by the NFL in the Saints bounty case. Rich Eisen of NFL Network reports he just interviewed NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, who said player discipline in Bounty case was coming "soon" and he rejected "just following orders" defense. Goodell said "Evidence was clear that the players embraced it and I don't think they are absolved from responsibility." Source: The Redzone
For the Saints, it would be nice to know so they can adjust their draft strategy of need be...not that they deserve to know ahead of time.
I think most of the penalties will be very large fines. Maybe two or three guys get suspended. Vilma for sure. Maybe Will Smith cause his name was mentioned for some reason. Don't think he put anyone out of the game cause he would have to sack the qb to do that. Some of the people involved are no longer playing for us so it won't hurt us but maybe that particular team they are playing for now. Just don't see that much of a hurting coming on. If our corners and safeties are suspended then we may be in trouble. Not much in the way of back ups there. We did sign three linebackers and we do have some people to take Smith's spot. We lost one of our better corners and our backups are mostly special team players with a db name.
i was thinking they same thing when i read the article. goodell may wait until after the draft just for one final 'heck you' to the saints on this bounty thing.
